a diner from Manhattan, New York
I've lived in Manhattan my entire life and my family has been visiting the area (Lewey Lake, Galusha's cabins) since before I was born. This past summer, that of 11, I found the Downtowner through an internet search and drove all the way to Gloversville to try it. I found a restaurant with a creative, delicious menu the type I often look for and do not find even here in New York City. The specials were equally as impressive as the regular menu and the staff was professional and attentive. The decor is out of place, in a good way. I love the old feel of the Adironacks but if you're looking for a break from all the rustic for a night this place is a true gem. It's worth the drive from any distance, in the end you will be so pleased with your decision, I was doing a little bob/dance sort of thing when my food came out!
