My father lived in the area in 1966 when I was 15. I went to visit and he took me there to eat. 40 years later I'm traveling through with my wife and told her about the place and said I was going to try to find it. At that time there were no signs. I told her my memory was we'd go down a one lane road through the woods and as we came out of the woods we'd go down a hill into the parking lot. And that if we didn't stop quick we'd be in the Tennessee River. I drove right to the place and everything was just as I remembered except the restaurant seemed farther back from the river bank. I mentioned this to a waitress and she informed me that the place had burned and they'd built the new place farther back from the river. That's the only thing that has changed. The catfish is just like I remembered it. It's got a taste all it's on and doesn't taste fishy. We've been back two more time since that 40 year anniversary. And by the way, we live in Houston, Texas and when we visit the area we always go eat at Hagy's Catfish Hotel. We hope to move there soon.

WOW WOW.... We are new to the area and decided to try Hagy's for our dining experience. We were certainly NOT disappointed. Best catfish & shrimp anywhere. People were nice, service was excellent and the roaring fire in the huge fireplace made for a wonderful dining experience. Try it for yourself and see if you don't come away a satisfied customer.

I go up to pickwick about twice a year to play golf and to go to Hagy's for catfish. I rarely get the opportunity to eat " whole catfish " and this is absolutely the best catfish around ! To make matters worse, the cole slaw with their special sauce is to die for. We always seem to get the sweetest and observant waitress's you'll ever find . . . & boy what a treat that is ! I went this past weekend and as always . . . . FANTASTIC !!!

We live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where we get the best seafood around. However, for catfish, we don't have anything to compare with Hagy's! When we plan a trip, we always include a visit to Hagy's even though it's 400 miles away.

This was a great experience! We were visiting friends with my parents and they took us here. We only wish we had been able to look around more in the area. The food was incredible, the service great and the desserts, amazing. We will be next time we are in the area! My 7 year old loved the hushpuppies!

Since we have moved to Wayne county, we have eaten there on several occassions. It is the place we take our friends and family that visit from out of state. Their service, friendliness and fare are outstanding. I recommend it to everyone that stays here at The Bear Inn in Clifton.

This place is next 2 the Tennessee River, and it truly does have the BEST catfish in the WORLD!!! Most places have that mudcat that tastes fishy and like dirt. We went 2 the Corinth Civil War stuff and then, the Shiloh Civil War stuff and then, had lunch at the Catfish Hotel. There is an old wooden house outside of the restaurant and has fish shaped Adirondack porch chairs). The Catfish Hotel was really a restaurant that had the absolute BEST tasting catfish in the entire universe!!! We had the "all U can eat" lunch. It was really flaky and didn't taste like the mud cat that U get in most of the south US. The owner was there and she has quite a story 2 tell. If U R ever out that way, make sure U stop there 4 lunch, or dinner. Of course, they called us, "Shu-gah" and had the never-ending pitcher of the beer of the south--sweet tea--really sweet tea! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! I wish she'd open one here in Tampa!

The Catfish Hotel, on the banks of the Tennessee River, offers the best fried catfish...period! (however, a close 2nd is Malone's in Tupelo) This is not only our opinion but that of the National Catfish Association. If you don't like catfish, they have a variety of entree's that are excellent as well: steak, ribs, shrimp, scallops, chicken, and frog legs! If you love ribs, these may be some of the best you'll ever sink your teeth into. This place is well worth the 2 hour drive. It's in Shiloh, Tenn. right next to the civil war museum and park. So leave early on a Saturday so you can spend some time at the museum.

My grandparents introduced me to this restaurant as a small child. Since they live in Mississippi and I live in Ohio the memories of this place were long forgotten, until my husband and I visited them last summer. This place brought back floods of memories and not to mention wonderful catfish and awesome service.
