The Frigate is a hidden gem. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere in Marion, so you probably have driven right by it enroute towards the cape on Route 6 going either direction, but it's definitely a great place. They start you off with this great bread selection and I'm pretty much full after that. Sweet cornbread, insationable carrotbread, and warm dinner rolls make it a treat to start off with and that's all part of the meal. Then you can get a variety of foods from italian to steaks and prime ribs and such. Their prime rib is decent-sized and not too expensive (around $19 or so). Their chicken parmesan is also a favorite loaded with cheese and a big amount chicken breasts. I'm not going to get into prices and all because when I go out, as long as it's not costing $100 per person, I'm fine with it and just want a good meal. Now, I do like the Frigate a lot, but on my way from Fairhaven down Route 6, Mike's Restaurant might have the best deal in town for a person interested in a good piece of meat and lobster! For like $29 or so, you can get a chick lobster with butta and a cattleman's cut of prime rib with 2 sides and the whole shebang... it's my personal favorite. One small issue I had once there was that the rib was a bit cold in the middle (I like it medium-rare to rare, so I understand it's precooked and kind of heated back up). They have great soups and little side salads. The waitresses are fantastic (see Glenda) and I even had a Jack & Coke once there, which was the only alcoholic beverage I had ever ordered there, and that wasn't too bad either. It's a great family place and is well worth the experience, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good, non-corporate meal. I can't stand corporate places these days... except Pub 99, good old beantown company (99 State St.)
