Visited the Chop House on two successive nights in June 2004...the second night is testimony to the experience on the first. From the greeting at the door to the bar to the service at the table we were made to feel sincerely welcome. Make a point of stopping at the bar...nice people, good drinks (made a perfect Old Fashioned) and a nice vantage point from which to get in the feel of the restaurant. There were four of us the first night and three the second and we experienced most aspects of the menu (beef, lamb, fish, salads, desserts)...we're all ready to visit again next time we are in town. I'm partial to darker and candle-lit and love an open environment where you can experience the entire space from wherever you are seated...that's the Chop House feel.

Great restaurant, but beware their "specials." Don't be like us and neglect to ask the price (the server didn't volunteer it.) Apparently, a special entree means it is specially over-priced. One of the evening's specials last weekend was a filet with a seafood sauce. The menu price for the an 8 oz. filet (minus the fru fru sauce) was $29. However, the special was $42. $13 extra for sauce? That seems a little ridiculous.

I would choose The Chophouse over any other steak restaurant, hands down. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere is inviting, and the food is to die for. I've NEVER in my life had a better salad than the Chophouse Original. I dream about that salad! Their pepper crusted filer is also amazing. If you want a good meal in a great restaurant, head downtown to The Chophouse!

BEST DAMN DINNER PERIOD. MY FAMILY HAS BEEN A DEL FRISCOS REGULAR FOR YEARS, BUT RECENTLY SOME FRIENDS TOLD US ABOUT THE NEW CHOPHOUSE. SO WE GAVE IT A SHOT. THE VALET WAS FREE FOR STARTERS, WHICH IF YOU ARE A DOWNTOWN REGULAR, NOTHING IS FREE. WHEN WE OPENED THE DOOR THERE WAS A GREAT VIBE THROUGHOUT THE RESTARAUNT. VERY DARK YET WELCOMING. WE SAT AT THE BAR FOR A COCKTAIL AND FOUND THE FRIENDLIEST BUNCH OF BARTENDERS AND WAITERS ALIKE. AND THE COCKTAILS WERE TASTY AND NOT SHORT POURED. WHEN ESCORTED TO OUR TABLE WE WERE ASTOUNDED BY THE PROMPT SERVICE AND PLENTIFUL SMILES. BUT THE SHOWCASE OF THE NIGHT WAS THE LIVELY "BABY HUEY" WHICH WAS OUR SERVERS NAME (ON THE RECEIPT). WE WEREN'T LOOKING TO MORTGAGE OUR HOUSE FOR A WINE AND DINE SESSION, JUST SOMETHING NICE. HUEY DIDN'T 'PISTOL WHIP' US, HE BROUGHT US SEVERAL TASTES OF DIFFERENT WINES RANGING FROM EXPENSIVE TO MODERATELY PRICED. WE FELT LIKE THE MOST IMPORTANT TABLE IN THE RESTARAUNT, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE JUST 2 OF THE MANY IN THERE. PEPPER CRUSTED FILET, WHAT CAN I SAY, BEST DAMN STEAK I EVER LAID MY MOUTH ON. ALL IN ALL, WE'LL COME BACK TILL THEY SHUT'EM DOWN.

ELLINGTON'S HAS RECENTLY CHANGED TO THE FT. WORTH CHOPHOUSE, ADDING A BETTER VARIETY OF PRIME BEEF AND FRESH SEAFOOD. THE AMBIANCE IS DARK, CANDLE LIT AND ROMANTIC. A FLIP SIDE TO THE BRIGHT AND OVERPRICED DEL FRISCOS. THE STEAKS WERE PHENOMINAL AND SERVICE VERY PERSONAL TO MAKE YOU FEEL AT HOME. BUT WHAT REALLY SOLD ME WERE THE WINE PRICES. IF YOU ARE A WINE EXPERT OR A BEGGINER, THEY HAD EVERYTHING AT OR CLOSE TO RETAIL PRICE. IN ADDITION THEY OFFER ALL THEIR WINES BY THE GLASS (8 OZ.). THE MUSIC MIXES WERE WONDERFUL, AND OVERALL A 5 STAR EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE PISH POSH OF A "TOO GOOD FOR YOU" ATMOSPHERE. MENU FEATURES: PEPPER CRUSTED FILET, OSCAR STYLE FILET, 32 OZ. PORTERHOUSE ($39), AND A JUMBO LOBSTER TAIL (25 OZ. $68). AND COMPLIMENTARY VALET. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GREAT NEW RESTARAUNT AND A NEW EXPERIENCE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE FORT WORTH CHOPHOUSE.
