Although we live in Redwood City, My wife and I have been eating at Estradas about twice a year for almost thirty years. One or two of the servers have been there since we started coming, and they always provided great service. We almost always ordered their sizziling salad, the tostada compusta, a real taste treat unlike anything else I've ever eaten. However tonight when we ate there, what a difference. The place has been remodled with a huge tv screen on the wall. The server was unprofessional, took forever to bring us water, and sort of just plopped things on the table, no class. Worst of all was the food. On my wifes tostada they forgot to put the tortilla in, and on both of ours the layer of beans was very thin, the lettuce which had been finely shredded before was instead roughly chopped, the cheese was of inferior quality and there was little of it and the same for the salsa on top. In short, what was used to be a great dish now was less than medicore. Oh yeah, the prices were up about twenty percent Perhaps Estradas has changed hands? Regardless, there is no way we will go back. Save your money!
MY MOM & DAD OWNED THE 7/11 STORE ON 87TH ST. IN DALY CITY. OUR FAVORITE RESTURANT WAS ESTRADA'S. THAT WAS BACK IN THE 70'S. THE CHILI RELLENOS WAS MY MOM'S FAV, BUT THE HOT SALADS WERE THE BEST THING I EVER ATE. I LIVE IN PALM SPRINGS NOW, & TRY TO MAKE HOT SALADS FOR MY FAMILY, BUT SOMEHOW CAN'T GET IT RIGHT. WOULD YOU TELL ME THE SECRET OF THE MEAT MIXTURE & HOW YOU DO IT????? MY MOM & DAD HAVE SINCE PASSED ON, BUT I KNOW HOW MUCH THEY LOVED ESTRADA'S.

a diner from South San Francisco
Pleasant surroundings but the food was just okay. The macaroni and cheese that comes with almost every order is gluey and bland. We went several times to give it a chance but haven't been back for years.
