Esarn Thai Restaurant offers delicious, authentic Thai cuisine at very reasonable prices. There's only so much you can do with a strip mall restaurant site to make its ambiance appealing, but the proprietor was very nice and the food was excellent. We started off with some spring rolls, which, although a little small, tasted very fresh. (You can get one order free with a coupon that we printed from the website.) We also shared a bowl of the Tom Ka Gai soup. This was one of the highlights of the dinner-- not too spicy, and quite rich. The soup was a little salty towards the bottom of the bowl, but overall it was among the best Tom Ka I have had.
My mother ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, which she found very pleasing. I thought it a tiny bit dry, but I am a bit of a sauce glutton. There was no shortage of sauce with my Gaeng Daeng with tofu however. This red curry dish came with plentiful vegetables, and tasted divine. Also, it came out spicy, which is just how I ordered it. If you don't truly like it spicy, I suggest that you order yours "medium."
Each of the dishes offered a sizeable portion, leaving little room for the delicious, warm sticky rice with egg custard dessert-- the only dessert on the menu, and the only one necessary. I highly recommend it, and the restaurant, to anyone who appreciates Thai cuisine and is looking for a family or casual dining experience.
