I was walking along 37th Avenue looking for a nice place to eat lunch and read a quick chapter in my book. It was cold and I saw an advertisement for "Fried Fish with Rice and Beans". Wow, that seemed to hit the spot and the $6.99 price seemed right. I walked in and the decor was interesting. There was a beautiful, large wood framed mirror on the right wall and about a dozen nicely framed nostalgic pictures of the Beatles, veteran movie stars and Marilyn Monroe's famous pose with her skirt blowing up in the air. The place was not crowded at all. I was given a menu and it did not have what was advertised outside. So I asked the waitress when she came over and she said no problem. I didn't know it but the price also included a nice small bowl of delicious lentil soup plus a cup of coffee. I requested a glass a water and the waitress forgot. She had asked me if I wanted bottle water and I said no, so maybe she thought I didn't want any water. No big deal. I eventually got it. I read my chapter in peace. With respect to the ambiance, there were a lot of elders quietly eating their lunches. It wasn't a trendy spot, just quaint and pleasant. I can't say it's my favorite place to eat but it's ok for the price and decor.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. STAY AWAY,THIS PAST SUNDAY I HAD THE MOST UNACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE EVER. MY WIFE AND I ORDERED LUNCH. I ORDERED THE CHICKEN WRAP DESCRIBED ON THE MENU AS HAVING MUSHROOM AND CHEESE AND OTHER INGREDIENTS.WHEN I RECEIVED IT,WAS NOT WHAT I ORDERED.IT CONTAINED AVOCADO/OTHER INGREDIENTS WHICH I DID NOT ORDER) AND TO BRING ME A MENU TO SEE IF I HAD MADE A MISTAKE IN ORDERING. MY REVIEW OF THE MENU CONFIRMED THAT THE SECOND WRAP ON THE MENU
WAS WHAT I ORDERED. THE OWNER OF THE RESTAURANT
CAME OVER AFTER A FEW MINUTES WITH A MENU IN HAND TO ASK ME WHAT I HAD ORDERED AND I SHOWED HER ON THE MENU THE SECOND ITEM UNDER CHIKEN WRAP ON THE MENU. SHE THEN TOLD ME THAT THE WAITRESS
WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WRONG ITEM. WHAT A DISGRACEFUL WAY TO DEAL WITH WHAT APPEARRED TO BE AN HONEST MISTAKE ON THE PART OF THE WAITRESS.
THIS NO WAY TO TO DEAL WITH PATRONS. I IMMEDIATELY EXPLAINED TO THIS IDIOT THAT I WAS LEAVING.WITHOUT RECEIVING THE CORRECTED ITEM
OR MY WIFE FINISHING HER LUNCH HAVING LOST OUR APPETTITES OVER SUCH DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF PATRON AND WAITSTAFF. I PAID THE BILL IN FULL
AND ALSO PAID FOR THE ITEM THAT THE OWNER/MANAGER?
INSISTED THAT SHE WAS GOING TO COLLECT FROM THIS
POOR WAITRESS. I STRONGLY ADVISE STAYING OUT OF
THIS COFFEE SHOP,AS THEIR TREATMENT OF STAFF IS REPREHENSIBLE. I HAVE EATEN AT RESTAURANTS FOR 40+ YEARS AND NEVER ENCOUNERED THIS TYPE OF ATTITUDE.

My wife and I walked pass this place for years. One day we decided to brave it and we have not turned back. This is our Sunday afternoon spot.It is clean, friendly with simple but nice decor.the waitresses need more experince but they do accomodate all of your requests without an attitude which makes up for any deficiencies.they recently added a cake carousel and there CHEESE and MOCHA CAKES are delicious. They also make me unsweetened ICE TEA when I want it.The LEMOM SOLE is on the money.Their SOUPS are very good.Very moderate prices also.My mother in law loves their COFFEE.
