What did happen to that dear old man who worked there. We use to draw straws my husband and i to see who would call in the order. He always made giving out that number the hardest thing to understand with his broken english!! He really was insulted when you didnt know it!!!!
Needless to say he has been gone awhile. I wish him well. The food did go down after he left, but, we recently started trying it again and its been very good takeout for the most part. Besides, there is no decent chinese food for several miles, New Paltz is bad and the next town for me would be Kgn. In fact the reason I decided towrite a review is because we are doing take out right now and i got sidetracked looking on line for there phone#. I think the food is good, fresh and close to home. When you decide not to cook, decent chinese food is great!!!!

I think the food at the Chinese Gourmat Kitchen is very good. We order from there often and enjoy the food.

The Chinese Gourmet Kitchen in Rosendale N.Y. is not very good. We ordered General's Chicken combo, the chicken had bones in it, the sauce was like glue, the pork fried rice that came with it tasted as if they soaked it in margerine, the egg roll tasted as if some of the vegetables had gone bad and lacked spices, the hot and sour soup was to thick like glue. We also ordered one of the specials,the vegetable rice noodle. It lacked taste and spice, the scallions were cut way too big, not many vegetables. We ordered two apps. and got one. The shrimp toast was ok, but was over fried and not cut into two equal portions. They also charge for chinese tea, which is usually a free staple at chinese restaurants. They do not accept credit cards, only cash which can be a huge inconveience.

This is by far and away the best chinese food in the area. Takeout places in New Paltz are terrible and dirty. Gourmet is good, clean and quick, but dear god don't forget your order number or the little old man will shame you in front of everybody
