My wife and I were in Council Bluffs unfortunetly to bury my father who had recently past on. After several hours of visiting with family members, we decided to venture out sightseeing and to find out what had convinced my father to live in Council Bluffs for the last 47 years of his life. Well, after a 10 or 15 minute drive around town, we stumbled upon Boxer BBQ. Being from Texas (the home of real BBQ) I was skeptical on how BBQ was cooked in Iowa. They were nice enough to let us come in even though they were in the process of closing. I am one Texan that is not ashamed to admit when I have been outdone, I am here to tell you that may have been the very best BBQ I have ever eaten. I was also impressed with the familys' generosity, and making us feel at home. I think we found one reason my father stayed in council bluffs as long as he did. The prices were not bad at all for the amount of food they placed on our plates.
