Want bad food & bad service? Go to Boudreaux's!
Today, I went to St.Joe from KC for two reasons: 1) Because it was Chiefs Fan appreciation day; and 2) to celebrate the 60th Birthdays of both my brother and his wife. What should have been a happy experience turned in to a sour one.
My nephew had contacted Boudreaux's over a month ago to make reservations for our party of 20+. We had people travel in from KC, St. Louis, Maryville along with several St. Joe residents. Ages ranged from 2 to 80 - one of which is currently on Hospice Care. The temperature was very hot, just like all of our Missouri weather has been recently.
We arrived in St. Joe at approximately 6:10pm for our 6:30pm reservation. When we walked in, the bartender acknowledged us (my nephew was carrying a big cake) by saying, "Oh, your the party of 20+. Just go see the hostess." Which we did, who advised us that there was no reservation (hmm, obviously the bartender knew about it) and that it would be at least 45 minutes before they would have a room available for us. The reservation was confirmed over a month ago - we had recieved invitations over a month ago. No apologies were given.
So, since there was no room inside the restaurant to wait, twenty of us were outside in the heat for over 45 minutes. Keep in mind, this included four children and an elderly woman - in the heat! Not one person from the restaurant came out to offer us a glass of water or to check on us.
Finally, my nephew got hold of someone at Houlihan's restaurant down the street, who said for us to come on down, they would happily care for us. We went inside to advise the Manager and to check to see how close they were to seating us. This very tall, brown haired man, rudely stated "We are working on it now." No apologies for the wait or OUR inconvenience...he made us feel like WE were inconveniencing him!! I have been in the Service Industry for over 25 years and was appalled! If I had not been there to celebrate someone else's special event, I would have left at that moment!
We were seated and our orders taken at 8:15pm!!! Then to top that off, the salad I had was brown and old! The Catfish I had tasted like it was dirty, like they didn't clean it. (And this old Missouri gal knows her Catfish!:)
I grew up in St. Joe and hate that this place represented my home town so horribly. Not only will I never go there again, I will advise anyone I know who may travel to St. Joe to avoid Boudreaux's restaurant. Save your time and money...there are many other good restaurants to choose from in St. Joe.
