I stopped by Bill's Toasty Shop after a friend recommended it. It truly is a one-of-a-kind place... at least in the 21st Century.
If you're looking for gourmet dining, keep on driving. But if you're looking for a "unique experience, then Bill's Toasty is a must-stop place. It's open 24/7 (and has been since 1937) closing only on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter (?). It seats 14 people at counter stools and a couple of booths.
I've not eaten breakfast there, but I believe it's served anytime. A friend stopped by mid-evening and said an omelette looked big enough to feed a family.
The regular burgers are enormous, yet they offer double- and triple-burgers. Milkshakes are made from hand-dipped ice cream and mixed in stainless-steel containers. Fries and onion rings were tasty, too.
It's a trip back in time, however I've been warned not to drop by after 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It's too crowded!
Finally, this warning. No credit cards are accepted and they stop accepting checks after (I think) 10 p.m.
Give a try. It's a dining experience you won't soon forget!
