Avila's has some excellent food choices (tortilla soup, mole enchiladas) and a few items that are really substandard. If you live close and eat there often, you learn the good dishes and avoid the bad, but the menu is uneven, and the selections are extremely typical. Service varies wildly depending on how busy the restaurant is, and some of the wait staff is rather inattentive. It's a nice enough place, but there are better values and more interesting offerings at several other locally owned places.
