A diner from Tiburon
Mar 27, 2011
Last night I experienced the WORST dinning experience of my life !
A friend and I had 5:30 reservations for what was to be an early
Friday pizza dinner at Ambrosia. We arrived on time, and when the
owner got off the telephone he rather reluctantly pointed us to a
front table. After 5 or 6 minutes a waitress asked if we wanted to
order some wine...which we did..Soon thereafter we ordered a crab
cocktail, a Caesar salad to be followed by a large Lloyd's Special
pizza. ( which was tasteless, sloppily made and NOTHING
like the Lloyd's Special we'd enjoyed several weeks earlier) Being
hungry we ate most of it but agreed it wasn't good. Next, instead of a
dessert we each ordered a 2nd glass of wine;...we'd barely taken a sip
when suddenly the owner, Mark, came over and boldly announced he needed our table !! ....why not at least ask something a little bit more polite ? like "would we mind finishing our wine at the bar ?" or at least offer not to charge for the wine that was now undrinkable ! ..It WAS 6:27 p.m. LESS than an hour after being seated !! Needless to say we quickly paid the $85 bill and left IN SHOCK at such rudeness...??? how does this guy stay in business ??? Nothing like this has ever happened to either of us in all our combined 145 years of dining out !!..The
best wine in the world isn't worth such treatment and mediocre food .
