I love the breakfast and the food is great, but the woman that seats you at the door lacks a lot . I have left several times because she would be laughing and talking with the other emp. and leave the people waiting to eat standing. I left again this morning, same old thing , you need someone new to seat people that pays attention to the customers who are waiting with no service.

Recently we had breakfast at Abele's. After we were seated by the hostess, we sat for a while without any type of service. After a while, the hostess noticed that we had not recieved any service. She directed someone our way. After we helped ourselves to the bar, we had to continue to wait for our drinks. The food was great, as always. As we approached the counter, the cashier was involved in a private conversation with another employee. She took our bill and money, and gave us our change without ever acknowledging us or speaking.

Always great food and service! The buffet is the BEST, especially the breakfast. Fresh fruit on the bar, too!

Stopped in for dinner on the way home to Hickory from a trip to Biltmore Estate. The food is supurb and the selection is good also. Our wait

This place is great! We found it by accident and have been back like four times, even though it's over an hour drive from our house. The Coconut (HOMEMADE) Custard Pie is heaven! I will be driving there on Christmas Eve just to buy one and have dinner with the kids!

Greatest breakfast bar. Love their wide selection and their offering of not just milk gravy, but my favorite--brown gravy.

Abele's of Morganton, NC is a restaurant in the design of a classic 1950's era of food services. The food is fairly priced for the hot bar but, I wouldn't order anything off the menu itself. The tables were sticky a layer of dust resigned upon the various displays of 1950's Americana merchandise and vintage packaged candy items. The smell of bleach was repugnant when entering the bathrooms and waitresses were literally shoving each other around to maneuver through the heavily merchandise cramped aisles. Candy was displayed at child eye level right next to the cash register which caused grief towards parents trying to quickly exit the restaurant to prevent their children from having temper tantrums. The restaurant itself had well prepared food at a convenient price, with these hard economics times that is a big selling point but, considering the hectic atmosphere and cramped stuffed surrounds it's not really worth the savings when you look at the bigger picture itself.

Tried to eat @ Abeles could not get sitted, plenty of empty tables. 3 employee's around the cash register gosspiping about another employee. I waited and waited no one came to sit us.When I walked out one of the three employee's made a snide remark to my wife and I. When i approacherd her 2 employee's ran away and one said we are rude. (I guess for leaving?) I am amazed at the lack on service inconsideration of employee's their attitude!! My goodnes i only wanted to spend some money for a meal (could even help pay their salary and a tip might have been involved.WOW!)

This is a great family dining experience in a casual atmosphere! Prices are family friendly and the food is excellent. We loved the fresh salad and fruit bar as well as the other menu items we tried-kids sphagetti and spuds. We are defnitely coming back to visit here on our trips to the mountains.

What a great little diner! I love most of all the salad bar with the fresh fruit..Delicious and so fresh! We drive from Charlotte at least once a month to eat here because nothing beats it..You must eat here!

I love this place, it is where my boy friend and I had our first date 7 months ago. It is a home town kind of place. Everyone knows your name and you are treated like family. I highly reccomend it to everyone.
