a diner from DEEEtroit, Michigan
For the diner afficianado, this is one of the best little traditional diners in the City and is located within a spoon toss of the trendy East English Village and MorningSide neighborhoods (think tree-lined streets, hip, modest 1920s and 1930s homes). While not a black-tie facility, the "motherly" attention of the wait staff and the abundance of "regulars" make it like being at grandma's house (if gradma served diner food). Food is standard diner fare: Plan to drink lots of coffee and get your fill of pancakes, cheese sandwitches, BLTs, hamburgers, etc. Very hip in a retro, massively understated way. Great for breadfast.

I travel across town for Vicki's.. They have had some of the best barbecue in Detroit for years. The staff is courteous and they don't mind fulfilling special request.

Not what it's cracked up to be. Owner does not treat employees very nice and often disciplines them in front of customers (I've witnessed this more than once). :-(. Not too professional. Muffins are great. Lunch menu sits in counter for too long ...
