Not very nice service, they cater to local asians but treat others like dirt and overcharge them. They give the good food to the regulars and the garbage to unsuspecting takeout callers.

The food is good but the unfriendliness of the staff (including the owner) took points out of the entire experience. East Chinatown Restaurant has dropped to the bottom of my picks since last year.

i have to say i find the food here very good and authentic if i get what i order. the service is frustrating at best. they serve a few pork and seafood dishes that my family loves but when it comes to my bean curd and/or veg order it`s hit or miss if i recieve what i order. the service people always seem completely disinterested in accomadating me despite how clear and polite i am. i live here in the neighborhood and wonder if this management is just not interested in my business. are they anti anglo? i see they have a great deal of chinese patrons and have perhaps mistaken all anglos for tourists or as unneccesary. i hope they rethink their management style and realize that foodies come in all races.
the food would have gotten 4 stars if the service staff were able to actually get my order right. i know what i want and what is good. the bright lights, bad service and loud chinese TV make me now choose take-out if we eat here but even then sometimes i`m left waiting at the counter for my food while the counter woman is sitting at a table watching tv, chatting or counting covers for a long long time while i can see my food cooling off in the kitchen window. it`s not fun to have to wrangle someone for service.
service is important! as is listening to your patrons. but not at east chinatown.
i`d love to see this change and return with my business.

Food was decent at best for this restaurant. We had very poor service at this restaurant. The waitresses rather watch the chinese channel on the TV than servicing their customers. Half the time they were just standing around and watching TV. The management there did not seem to care either wich really shocked us. The service is what really counts if you want your customers back.

I had a very pleasant experience at East Chinatown. The minute I walk in the restaurant I was greeted very nicely by the girl and the waitresses. I was immediately seated and my order was taken. The place was very clean. I had alot of good recommendations. The food was great and the price was very reasonable. The asian TV and the chinese songs were very interesting. I would highly recommend East Chinatown to all my friends who love real chinese food. Customer service was top notch.

If you people looking for friendly customer service, may I suggestion those $100 per person restaurants in Boston, East Chinatown so far has the best food and value out there. Staffs are little unfriendly, but nothing terrible about it. I've been to many many restaurant, actually I eat out every weekend, East Chinatown so far the thumbs up from me for food and value. Compare to $100 per person restaurant where you gotta wait for 2-3 hours before sit down. Goto Cheese Cake factory then, food is ok, wait 2 hours for it.

Extremely poor service. These guys are a joke when it comes to servicing their customers. The messed up on our orders twice and never even apologized for it. Furthermore, they even blamed us for their mistakes. I will never go to this place again. There are many other restaurants out there that have much better food and definitely better service!!!

From the moment we entered the restaurant my friends and I experienced one of the worst services ever in any restaurant. The people that work here are very rude and care more about themselves rather than their customers. We waited over 10 minutes to get serviced because they were busy chatting amongst each other or busy watching TV since the channel was set to a chinese channel and does not appear to be there for customers but rather for the staff that works there. They are very unorganized and always appear to be confused about what food belongs to which table!! You would think that management would do something about it but eve she cares less. Did I mention that she didn't even smile or acknowledge customers when they walk into her restaurant?! I was very shocked and in conclusion.. I will never step foot in this restaurant again unless I was forced to. Bad service to me equals loss of appetite for any food. Go someplace else where you get treated the right way..
