Restaurant Description

As you drive towards the beach on Commercial Boulevard, you can't help but notice the newest art gallery/cafe to hit the area, Art & Design Cafe. The window showcase, featuring eye-catching original works of art, is just a small sampling of what is going on inside.

When you walk through the front door you become overwhelmed with the artistic ambiance of the entire showroom. Take a table behind the flowing curtains with a colorful chandelier overhead. The plates and napkins are recycled from thrift stores or lovingly chosen at yard sales. Affordable pricing and professionalism, along with the highest level of customer service, is the philosophy that owner/ artist Vincent Byrnes prides himself on.

Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, Art & Design Café offers an assortment of delights while you bask in what could be South Florida's most unique and visually impressive restaurant décor and ambiance. The restaurant is adorned by local art available for purchase. "You sit among the art to eat and if you like it, you buy it," Ginger Coopersmith, owner/partner, explains.

"Design Your Own" salad or choose from a wonderful variety of panini's, signature salads (all named after famous artists such as Monet's Vegetarian Salad), and appetizing entrees such as Seared Ahi Tuna, Romanian Skirt Steak, Filet Mignon, and Ginger's unrivaled Veal Piccata served with Pesto Pasta, Asparagus, and Roasted Peppers.

Art & Design is not just an art gallery and café; it's a full-service design center, coupled with its affiliate Millennium Design Group. Their main priority is to help people achieve the look and feel they want in their homes or businesses without breaking the bank. Art & Design and its affiliate, Millennium Design Group, have cemented a niche in this market by utilizing your existing furnishings and introducing art, fabrics, and accessories to the room to help you complete your look.

I bought the $50 for $25 on Groupon yesterday and checked out Art & Design Cafe on line. My boyfriend and I ate there tonight and I couldn't wait to get home and write a review! Ginger met us at the door with hugs(being from south MS, I really ate that up!) She showed us to our "private" table(all tables are surrounded by floor to ceiling sheer curtains) with our own flat panel tv and beautiful art everywhere you look. Steve was our server and he did a fantastic job. I had the filet and my bf had the veal. Both dishes were to die for! Oh yeah, the baked brie appitizer was FABULOUS as well! What a wonderful experience...We will certainly return

Only someone from Boca who prefers over-priced and pretentious restaurants would say anything bad about this delightful breath of fresh air. What a great restaurant experience! Good food - fair prices and extremely unique atmosphere. We highly recommend it.

Art & Design has become one of our favorite restaurants for a unique dining experience. We take clients & friends there regularly and all love the intimate and unusual environment. The wait staff is friendly and treats everyone like a 'regular'... it's refreshing. Food is better than average & very affordable. The decor and experience make up for any shortfall. HIGHLY recommended!

I was told by a new friend of mine that this place is to die for and boy was she wrong. The owner is crazy... both of them. I came in just to look at the place and see the art but he pressured me to stay and eat. I felt bad for the guy he must really need the money cause the place was empty & he was all over me from the second I walked in the door. I have to say the food and service was ok.

Mere words cannot express how much we enjoyed trying this restaurant-The Art & Design Cafe. It has to be one of the most romantic, intimate and unusual places in South Florida. Firstly you are overcome with awe when you walk in and see all the beautiful art on the walls, ceilings and displayed between the tables. Then you see the beautiful place settings displayed on the tables that are surrounded on three sides by floor to ceiling curtains. It is so intimate and private. The ambiance is only surpassed by the exquisite menu, the wonderful food itself and the great service. Everything is uniquely prepared - we both had different menu selections - two kinds of salmon and both were prepared perfectly. Then there was the small flat screen televisions for your private viewing which while we were there featured Andrea Bocelli in concert. It was a relaxing dining experience--not just dinner, but a real experience. I totally recommend it and know I will be back. It is a great place for a birthday, Mother's Day celebration, a bridal shower, an office party or charity event. Out-of-town visitors would love it. Congratulations for your creativity and for having available such a wonderful place!

Me and my husband wanted to do something different and that is what the art & design is very different. I love this place, the food was alot better then the first time when i came with my girlfriends (NEW CHEF), we had the same waitress and she's a lovely young lady very helpful, but the dinner seemed rushed they need to slow it down. Also the owners seemed to over do it with the convo, our food got cold because she wouldn't stop running her mouth.

We were at the Art and Design Cafe a couple of times last year and although the ambiance was beautiful the food was hit and miss. Well, we went back there last night. 8 of us. I had the rack of lamb which was out of this world. My husband had the chef's special which was meat loaf and he said it was amazing. Our whole party was very pleasantly surprised. Seems they have a new chef now and he was trained in Paris, France. OMG. Unbelieveable down to the desserts and their new wine bar. My favorite (St. Julien) was on their menu and I couldn't believe the price. We've paid more at other restaurants. Can't wait to go there again.

I must say that the place is wonderful and so was the service but it ends there the food is horrible, I have been there before for lunch and it was great so i decided to take my friend there for dinner and was it a big mistake. They must have two chef's because there is a big difference in the taste off the lunch food and the dinner food. They need to step it up if they want to ever have a repeat clientel.

THE WORST OF THE WORST OF THE WORST OF THE WORST. THE PASTA WAS THE WORST I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. MCDONALD'S IS 100 TIMES BETTER THAN THIS. IT IS A MIRACLE THIS PLACE IS STILL OPEN. DON'T SEND YOUR ENEMIES THERE, THEY'LL COME BACK AND KILL YOU.

YOUR SAVIOR.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I BOUGHT THIS COUPON.

P.S.: NOTHING TO DO WITH SOUTHFLORIDADINES.COM. I LOVE THE WEBSITE. I HAVE EATEN AT MANY OF ALL THEIR RESTAURANTS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HAPPY, EXCEPT FOR THIS CRAZY PLACE.

The art is really cool, but that's really it. If you want to pay a significant premium for simple food you could easily make yourself after stopping at your local Wal-mart, have at it! It gave us a good story to tell for the night, though, when a random drag queen started performing out of the blue, walking all around the restaurant and up to people's tables. All in all, this is one of those places I write off as pointlessly pretentious.

My friend and I dined at the Art and Design Cafe on 11/3/09. Our server, Lynn, was excellent - very friendly and attentive. The place is a delight, the food could be better. We both had salmon and it was a little too done. The portions are not large, which is fine, but the sides could be bigger and better prepared. The dessert, Baked Alaska, was disappointing. The wine, however, was quite good. I fully intend to dine there a second time, as it is a charming place and I am hoping they work out the bugs (such as uneven hours, teeny tiny candles and no matches to light them with on the tables, a broken espresso machine......)

A unique and great experience. The lamb chops were wonderful and I would highly recommend them. Some of the accompaniments were bland. Would definitely go again!!!

We went here with a coupon last night, and had a nice time at this gallery/cafe. Each table is in a private little nook with a curtain. There is unique beautiful art work in each little nook including a small TV that plays live concerts.. VERY cool atmosphere!
The food was either hit or miss. Stick with their fresh colorful salads. I had the tortellini with shrimp. The sauce was a bit bland, and the shrimp was definitely not fresh, and my husband's salmon was by no means fresh either. Just avoid the seafood. Their presentation is beautiful, and free bread platter was lovely. Portions are large.
The food takes a long time to come-( around 45 mins). They want you to have a dining experience-- walk around and enjoy the art and listen to music while chatting over wine. We would recommend this place for a nice 2-2 1/2 hour experience. Enjoy!
