The architecture is exceptionally beautiful. rustic. High ceilings adds a lot. the booths and tables are softened by linens and silverware. nice wine selection. excellent atmosphere. Quality. and class. Most servers are unpretentious and down to earth. Excellent service. Only one hostess (older) one time was pretentious- and out of place(uptight?). Prices are premium but well worth it. Food is real gourmet. If you enjoy the art of cuisine, this is the place for you. The food is exceptional, probably the best in Missoula. High priced for Missoula, though.
Great place to go with a friend for a glass of wine and appetizer, if your on a budget.
Vegans: If you call ahead a day or so the Chef will prepare the most amazing vegan or vegetarian dishes. They will even put out a beautiful plate of food for Vegans without notice. Produce, often organic, sometimes local, is always the best. Their meat is the best quality in Missoula. Excellent steaks. Beautiful salads. Good wine and beer.

Pearl Cafe is an amazing place for an excellent meal with terrific atmosphere. We have eaten here 3 or 4 times and the food is excellent, with some traditional choices as well as some options not always seen on the menu (elk, rabbit, duck). The desserts are fabulous, with some regulars like the hazelnut torte and seasonal specials like the summer berry bread pudding. Kind of pricey - but worth every penny. The desserts are only $6, a bargain for a special treat.

We found all aspects of the dining experience first rate. The large selection of 375 ml wines was a nice surprise. The bread has always been exceptional at Pearl Cafe. The soup was unique and very flavorfull. Salad was fresh with some unusual greens. Seafood was our choice of entrees. The halibut was very fresh and cooked just right. The seafood stew included clams, shrimp, scallops, and fish. Very tasty and the seafood was very fresh in appearance and taste. All in all, we had a wonderful 26th anniversary dinner at Pearl Cafe.

Food some of the best in Western USA and that includes Seattle, Portland and California locations. Service was great and food was worth the 450 mile drive when coupled with other things that were to be done in Missoula. Well worth the price.

The food was great. Unfortunately, we sat in the waiting area for 40 minutes before being seated at our table (and this was with a reservation). We were offered our beverage, but no appetizer or bread basket was offered. The maitre d was snooty and the waiter was tolerable but there were long gaps in service. Now I know why the people before us were there for so long...they had to wait forever for service.
If you're looking for good food and are willing to let what is typically an 1 1/2 meal stretch out to 3 hours, with only 1/2 of that time spent at your table, this is the restaurant for you!
