Being from Southern California, I began looking for a good mexican restaurant almost as soon as I got here. I expected to find something local and great, like I have before [in Centralia, WA, home to maybe the best mexican restaurant I've ever been to]. After hearing about this place I tried it out... whether the family is legitimate or not, the food is not all that great, its overpriced and the kitchen staff is not friendly at all. I asked for a side of mole for a $16 chicken and steak plate and was told they could not do that. Also, take a look at the ceiling; I was taught that a properly operated restaurant always has clean ceiling fans. I came in with an open mind and went twice; I won't be back.

Upon arriving in Missoula and asking a local where I could get some good Mexican food, I was told to check out El Cazador ("The Hunter") and that it had won local awards for the best Mexican food in town. Right in historic downtown, the restaurant is decorated very lively and the food was good, reasonably priced & arrived quickly. The only real complaint I had was that the waitress never came back after she delivered my food to ask me how everything was and whether there was anything else I needed. Overall, though, I would recommend this place if you're looking for good Mexican food in Missoula.
