We had always eaten at this restaurant. We had reservations and were 5 mins. late because my niece had a toddler. They made a huge issue of it even though the restaurant wasn't busy. We were told we would have to wait 20 mins to be seated. I asked for the manager and he was extremely rude to us. So, 6 adults and a child walked out of their restaurant and dropped $300.00 at another restaurant because of their rude behavior and we will never go back!

I used to frequent Ichiban in its old location. Now that they have relocated to Harrah's, quality seems to have gone down. The food at the Teppanyaki, while generally good, has never been amazing, and but the ambience used to be excellent. Unfortunately, the ambiance in the new location is much worse, and the show seems to have become less impressive than I remember. Our chef in particular made many small mistakes, which I hope was not indicative of general performance these days.
However, I must say that their sushi bar is excellent. It's VERY expensive (highest price for sushi in town - $27 for non-locals for all-you-can-eat), but the sushi was extremely good, nigiri proportions were generous (lots of fish), and presentation was beautiful. The ginger was also white, not pink, and much better than the regular sour stuff. If you want a good sushi experience, Ichiban is a good (though expensive) place to go. The Teppanyaki might be worth seeing just for the experience, but recently has become a let-down.

Disapponting at best. Very over priced and over rated. The food preparation "show" was average and the quality of food very so-so. Would not waste my money going there again.

their were three adults and a child 2 years old and it was his birthday. Our bill was 212.00 and i told the waitress it was my sons birthday. i have been coming to ichibans since i was 12 and i am now 36, and i have never been treated worse. the food was ok. the atmosphere was great, but for 212.00 i thought for sure they would bring my child the same dessert i have always had, vanilla ice cream with whip cream and chocolate. well, they did not, and it wasn't like they stopped the tradition, their were two other birthdays right next to us. so to say i will be back, no way. very sad because i use to celebrate every bithday their, either on my birthday or not, now just to afford the place it has to be on your birthday, or have they stopped that tradition also.

I took my son and his two best friends for his 12th B-day , joining at the table were a mother and her two in thier 20's daughters. The thing is the chef started speaking in spanish to the little chickies for the entire meal. I'm not one to complain, but for the 40.00 a head I want to believe my chef is either unable to speak any english rather than beleive that he was just wasting my 200.00 for a good show for my son on his birthday. I have heard that the service was deteriorating, and sad to say that these rumors are true folks..This was in the middle of the week at the 6pm sitting.I would of just gone to eggroll corner and gave the 200.00 to my son..

We have eaten here twice when coming to Reno and loved it both times. You get the choice of having your food fixed in front of you by the chef or eating in a regular booth. The food was great. Call ahead for reservations.
