Chef Brett Sewing graduated from the CIA (Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, NY) in 1981. After graduating Brett traveled through the south and southwest working in a variety of country clubs, hotels and private clubs. His love for skiing and mountain living brought Brett to West Dover, Vermont in 1998. In 1991 Brett and his wife opened the Butcher Chop here in West Dover, which featured cut-to-order meats, fish and poultry. After a successful year, they expanded to include dining and takeout. Brett felt the restaurant needed a name change as well, one that was a better fit for its unique personality. Hence, the beginning of West Dover Brett's...if it were only that easy! West Dover Brett's just didn't have the ring Brett was looking for. After an extensive name search and maybe an adult beverage or two, West Dover Joe's was born. After several years and many thousands of steaks and dinners later, they sold the eatery to spend more time with their children.
So here we are 10 years later. Brett has re-created West Dover Joe's Restaurant with the outstanding service and quality he is well known for. Today, WDJoe's is a moderately priced restaurant with a full-service bar, deli and market, and prepared foods-to-go. The deli & market offers an array of delicious prepared foods for take-out or to take home, or a juicy steak for your grill.
