My husband I stopped in on our way up to visit our son at Western, we didn’t want to deal with the casino traffic and the Village is right off I-5. Boy were we surprised, it has been there for years, but there is definitely a new atmosphere with the new owners. We ended up having dinner, which was great, like we were eating at Mom’s. Then when the band started up in the lounge, we moved into there and enjoyed the music and a few cocktails. Postponed our trip by a day, but sure was worth it. This will become a part of all our trips up north.

Huge improvements recently since the new owners took over. Excellent pie, definitely made from scratch. Great service and delicious food priced very well too. Always have great lunch specials, can't go wrong with breakfast anytime there. And the lounge has live music 4 nights a week with no cover. Hard to find all that, especially with such a great location. I always plan a stop there when were passing through the area! Gotten to the point that we plan a trip so that we can stop for pie! Highly recommend it to all.

A long tradition with my friends and family has always been to stop at the Village Restaurant in Marysville for some pie. One of the Northwest's best kept secrets, is that the Villge has a huge bakery and makes all their delicious pies from scratch. Right off I-5 it couldn't be more convienent to stop and they have great service and delicious food. We've even had a great time at their adorable bar, they have live music Tue, Wed, Fri, and Sat nights with a dance floor. It's a blast, and been the location of some our best girl's nights. Definitely check it out, you'll be surprised and delighted.

It had been a few years since my wife and I had been to this location. We would go to the Twin Lakes one because of the surrounding shopping area. With Twin Lakes closed we went back to the Ash restaurant and was extremely happy with the young man that served us and the food. Fresh, hot and the best pies, the one's I remembered at the Seattle World's Fair in '62. My folks would make a special trip up here from Seattle (where we moved from) to buy the whole pies, my wife and I do the same. The Peanut Butter Cream is amazing! I'm having some now. The wife loves the Strawberry Rhubarb. (

At 9:50pm on a Sunday night of 09/06/09, my husband and I decided to go to the Village Restaurant to get a quick bite before returning home from shopping. I was elated to see the "OPEN" sign and several customers sitting inside as we pulled into the parking lot. As my husband went to the restroom, I stood waiting to be seated only to be told by the waitress that they were already closed. I looked over my shoulder at the large clock on the wall and pointed out that it was not yet 10:00 and the sign still says "OPEN". "Well, I was just so busy, I hadn't had time to turn the sign over, and we ARE closed", was her reply. After chuckling out loud at the absurdity of her defying the restaurant's policy and reiterating the restaurant's hours of operation and getting nowhere with this situation, I decided to simply wait for my husband and leave. I've never heard of any restaurant doing this. I suppose when the clock struck 10:00, she'd chase the existing patrons out the door...Subsequently, my call to speak to a manager the following day was unfruitful...there never seemed to be one on duty. No wonder the neighboring Don's Restaurant is doing so well!

My family took our Mother here Saturday, 5/10 to celebrate Mother's Day. Right away the tone was set - as we entered & were standing at the hostess station what we thought was a customer came in behind us and exclaimed to the hostess "Well, aren't you going to seat these people?" Turns out she was our waitress who was clearly exasperated & just coming in to work her shift. We were shown to a table in the dining room past the counter. We didn't have to wait too long before this same waitress came to take our order. It was obvious that she was not having a good day although she did attempt to keep her sense of humor & forge ahead even though she was being challenged. My sister ordered a chicken ceasar salad with 3 eggs sliced & tomatoes chopped up. (my sis is famous for ordering salads like Meg Ryan orders sandwiches in "When Harry met Sally"!) The waitress was patient & even remembered taking an order from my sis on a previous visit & we thought we were good to go. After waiting for nearly 1/2 hr our food arrived. The food was not hot enough & my sister's salad, which had too much dressing on it, was minus the chicken, which came 10 mins later. When the waitress presented the ticket to us with the charges for 3 out of the 5 meals on it I was shocked to see we were charged $1.99 for 2 eggs and the 3rd egg was $1.79! We didn't notice the price on the menue nor was it brought to our attention & should have been I thought. After the fiasco with having to wait for 1/2 for our food then my sister not getting her full salad ordered the way she wanted it I would have thought that some if not all of her meal would have been taken care of by the restaurant. Afterall, the restaurant didn't appear to be busy from what we could tell. We did surmise however the kitchen was having trouble. When I got to the register I asked to speak to either the manager or the owner at which point I was told by the hostess they were both out - together. When I asked who was in charge in their absence the hostess replied "No one." About this time I asked to speak to the waitress who then came out from no where and spoke to my sister who ordered the salad. She should have been speaking to me as I was the one who was paying the ticket & had requested to speak to someone in charge. Instead she got next to my sister to explain the cost of the eggs. When I approached to inquire about either taking the charge of the salad off or a discount as my sister was not satisfied with her meal nor was the rest of my family happy about our dining experience, she informed me she didn't have the authority to do so. Suffice to say at this point I was resolved to pay and get the heck out of there. What really bothers me is not paying for our meal but the total lack of customer service on a day that we were celebrating Mother's Day as a family. After paying I asked the hostess for the name & contact # for the owner. This young women did give it to me but clearly didn't want to plus I got "attitude" with my request. I called Sunday, Mother's Day only to be told that the owner was slammed & couldn't come to the phone. I told Jessica, who answered that I understood but to please take down my name & phone # as I wanted to speak to her about our dining experience of the day before. Again, I believe Jessica, who was answering the phone, was rude & also had attitude while taking down my info. Well, it is Monday @ 12:45pm & guess what? Still no call back from the owner or manager of the Village. It's unfortunate as we have been here several times over the years & have had fairly decent food but we may never come back again after being treated the way we were. Shame on the owner & manager to leave without having trained, professional, pleasant staff to greet and serve patrons. I'm truly disappointed...
