About The Branding Iron Restaurant
Winner of the 2005 National Beef Backer Award for beef presentation and marketing, The Branding Iron celebrates California's ranching history with its decor and gets its name from the approximately 200 cattle brands that are displayed throughout the dining area. Owned by Kara and Greg Parle, the Branding Iron first opened its doors in 1952 and its 50-year-old neon sign of a cowboy branding a calf has been designated a historical landmark by the city of Merced.

Very poor service. Owner and staff were rude, even sent me a letter in response to my comment card that was rude. The owner made my family really uncomfortable, and did not treat them well. My family all complained about the food, I thought it was ok. Mainly the amount of fat left on the plate that they had to cut from their steaks. I, of course, did not order steak. Prices seemed ok, but then I realized that there were things on the menu, that most restaurants include in the price, that were extra.
