With the Grand Opening slated for September 2004, controversy began to stir about our pigs. This delayed our opening; in spite of this we remained focused on opening our doors for business. In December 2004 we reached a compromise with the city. They had one condition; we now were allowed to serve our food; however we must cover the pigs with a drape until we resolve the issue with the city.
Then the unimaginable happened. The story hit AP Wire news and it was like pigs at dinner time. The frenzy of media coverage was on loyal TV news, radio and newspapers, even CNN was talking about our "little pigs". News was reported as far away as Denmark and is estimate do have been in over 100 papers around the world.
Even Jay Leno had a "hay day" with our now "Famous Naked Pigs."
Thus the nickname "NAKED PIG BBQ". In April 2005, we won the right ~ To keep the "PIGS" uncovered for all to enjoy; "naked" as they wish! What could have lead to or doors closing, in-turn opened our doors in a BIG way. We can now enjoy our mural and the Pigs in Snohomish are free to be naked.
Inside you'll find all kinds of great pig items donated by those who stood by us then and now. We look forward to serving you and making this your favorite BBQ Shack.
