I expected this restuarant to be really good. I had heard excellent things about the food and service. I was disappointed by both. The steaks were fair at best and there are certainly far better steaks in the area for the price. The whole place was somewhat out-dated and didn't look very clean - though I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe it was just that everything was somewhat dilapidated. The food was really not good from the salad to dessert nothing really impressed anyone at our table and the service was absulutely horrid. We will not be giving this place a second chance.

my o my. remind me not to move to lindenhurst! I,ve been going to this place for years and love it. I always have the same thing...PRIME RIB! It's awsome. A very friendly environment located in Gurnee. A must to try. I proposed to my wife there 5 years ago. very romantic and quiet setting. Eat more steak america!

the food was tasteless. Hamburgers, steaks and prime ribs were orderde and all had no taste.
the prices were expens8ve but not out of line if the food was good.
Never never go back!!!!!!!

I have been going to the backyard steak pit for many years and have never had a bad experience. my family and I love this place. The steaks are top notch and the prime rib is to die for. This restaurant is definatly worth the trip!

This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Not only was the food very overpriced, but also the service was lacking... in personality, timeliness, and so much more. Upon arrival, we asked that our friend who was celebrating a birthday be surprised with a small treat. After a very disappointing meal, which included mashed potatoes, if I'm not mistaken, made from a box, a pathetic salad bar (3.75 extra) with browning iceberg lettuce and a disappointing selection of menu choices. For the price of our entrees, you'd expect the food must be amazing. The meat was fatty and my husband’s prime rib was lukewarm. Not to mention the fact that in addition to it all, apparently children’s meals do not include drinks. A price of 2.50 per child-sized lemonade was added. I ordered a martini, which was so awful I handed it over to my husband to choke down. And, in the end... no birthday surprise was ever brought to our table.
After approaching the man who said that the birthday surprise would be taken care of, there was only speechlessness. Not even an apology. No attempt to make a mends. That was the first and last time we will ever visit Backyard Steak Pit. We used to drive by and say look at that shady place, joking about eating there, sometime. Now our minds will always be branded with the disappointment we experienced there this evening. $130 later we are slightly full, left without desert, and very bitter. I want everyone to know what a horrible experience this will be if you consider, price, quality of food, and service important aspects of a good dining experience.

We were there on Nov 21, 2007. The employees were friendly, funny and a Joy to be around. It really made for a FUN time. The pizza was good but the experience was off the charts.
