A Taste of Asia, 245 Main Street, Chatham, NJ, was going oo be exceptional when we arrived and spotted the famed Gloria Chu welcoming guests, Gloria, the beautiful Grand Dame of Oriental restauranteurs in Manhattan, is on hand on Saturday evenings as a favor to the property's co-owner, Jose Mendez. Jose began his career as a bus boy in one of Gloria's properfties. Her presence and Jose's kitchen-magic fulfilled our anticipation. A Taste of Asia features fine Malaysian dishes (and a wide selection thereof), and fine it was. The staff is well-trained and expeditious without rushing patrons, the dining was superb, and one was made to feel welcome right from the getggo. It was also fun to notice the number of well-behaved children enjoying cuisine other that what McDonald's might offer. Prices were moderate. It's a clean, well-managed, BYOW, smoke-free property. Reservations are suggested. Luncheon is also served, Tuesday thru Saturday. Located on Main Street(corner of S. Passaic),in up-scale Chatham, A Taste of Asia is easily reached and well worth your visit.

One of the best Asian restaurants in the area. The cuisine is Malaysian, which is vaguely reminiscent of Thai, but with a touch of a Chinese flare. The owner, Steve, will see to it that your overall dining experience is excellent. The appetizers are varied and very interesting to the palate. I highly recommend this restaurant. This would be my first choice if I were seeking Asian cuisine in the area, Tuptim is nice as well, also DeJaVu if you can put up with the less than excellent service...anyplace other than Thai Chef!
