Trenton Restaurant Guide

My. Husband and I had there food last weekend for the 1st time. I had chitllings and LOVED it going back today for more!! The man had oxtails, he thought they were too tough.. I'm from Brooklyn and live in Lawrence for the past 14 years, finally some good West Indian food!!!

I've been going here for my jerk chicken since 2003 and its the best(and spiciest) I've EVER tasted! I honestly can not get enough of it(I CRAVE Sunshine's@times). The people are great, the atmosphere is peaceful and low key, and the portions of one large platter are enough to share. It's truly a hidden gem. And I've tried different jamiacan restuarants from Trenton to Asbury Park(seriously)...Sunshine's IS THE BEST!!!

I went to Sunshine for lunch today ... the people were pleasant and they give you more then enuff food BUT ... IT WASN'T GOOD !!! NEXT TIME I WANT JAMAICAN FOOD ~ I'LL STICK TO THE RESTAURANT ON MAPLE AVENUE.

I went with my 30+ daughter. I grew up in the Bahamas and also lived in Jamaica for three years. My wife and I spend a week in Jamaica each year. The "old guys" were very polite and we had a great conversation. Everybody was very polite. There are only three tables and drinks are in bottles. The food was outstanding. I had Oxtails and my daughter had chicken in brown sauce. Curried goat is available some days, jerk is always on the menu. Service was fast, food was good and people were very nice. The restaurant is what you would find in Jamaica: nice, not fancy, good food and nice people. If you are looking for white tablecloths, you're not looking for Jamaican. Price was reasonable. What more could you want? You won't be disappointed.

The food is good and the price is great!!! The jerk chicken is bangin!!! The old men look creepy though!!

Good food... not a restaurant though... really good curry chicken... always alot of older men hanging out in the seating area, so be prepared to be ogled.
