The Suki Yaki Inn has been in Spokane for 58 years. I'd seen it several times before, but it always looked like a seedy bar. No windows... On a whim, I stepped in the other day with a friend for lunch. We, being but poor students, were attracted to the sushi bar by lower prices and a display window with various fish parts on plates (the best was the whole octopus tentacle). The waitresses were very nice, and, being the only people there at the time, we were served very promptly. I can't vouch for anything else, having been there once, but the lunch special is an amazing deal - For 8.50 we got two maki rolls - crunchy roll (shrimp tempura) and unagi maki (barbecued eel). Each consisted of 10 pieces of sushi, and I must say it was the best sushi I've ever had. If you want cheap, good, authentic eating downtown, I highly recommend Suki Yaki.
