Rice Bowl is owned and operated by the Wong Family who have resided in Mandan, ND since 1998 (the same year I moved to Bismarck from Denver, CO). The food is an exciting blend of Cantanese and Mandarin; Hunan and/or American cuisine. There is a endless array of entree or combination meals. Their "brown sauce" is the best in town! I've had the pleasure of eating in many Chinese (Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai) restaurants across American - having been brought up in New York City, educated in Southern California with career moves throughout the Mid-West. The "Rice Bowl" is probably one of the better Chinese (or, Oriental) restaurants I've eaten at. The service is truly excellent (Sammy and Frankie are your hostess and host, respectively, while Sue and Steven and Lin Ju (mom, dad and son-in-law) are the "Iron" chefs. Their food is hot (temperature/safety wise), delicious and of generous quantity! My family of five (3 children, mom and dad) can enjoy a 5 course meal for under $30.00! Want more rice and brown sauce? No problem! Just ask! The ambience is traditional but simply. The service is quick and efficient. For a wonderful night (or lunchtime) rendezvous, check out the Rice Bowl on Main Street in Mandan. Better hurry! They're busy, but have adequate seating to accommodate everyone. As a Clinical Nutritionist/Dietician and former Public Health Service (Food Service)Investigator, you'll find Rice Bowl's food to be safe as well as delicious.
