I love chicos!!!! I know its not the cleanest place around but like other people have said, that place is always packed! its hard to keep up with it! if the food itself was unhealthy they would of already closed it down! any ways i can honestly say that chicos is an el paso establishment! el paso+chicos=meant to be! lol Their tacos with that melted yellow cheese and that red tomato sauce with green Chile salsa!!mmmmm!!! oh and dipping the fries in the sauce afterwards that makes my mouth melt! Yummy!!! its awesome! there is no place like chicos!! oh and every time i go there they are always really friendly and they take my order and say "mande mija?'that makes me feel at home! and definitely family oriented!

I am from El Paso and plan to visit soon. Living in Houston I constantly crave for those Chico's with extra cheese. If I only had the recipe. I remember the one on Dyer and Washington Park area. There is no place like home when it comes to Chico's.

ChicosTacosToGo.com was a great reminder of what I was missing. It was those great cheesy lil rolled tacos that would go two at a time in my mouth. What can I say that hasn't already been said by many. Chico's Tacos is great food and a true El Paso experience. VIVA LA CHICO'S!!!

If you don't mind your tacos with a side order of discrimination then this is the place for you.
Two gay were recently forcibly removed from this restaurant, with the reasoning being that the restaurant didn't "allow that gay stuff" there.

I live in Austin, but go home to visit at least twice a year. The first visit is Chico's Tacos, last visit is Chico's Tacos we take an ice cooler and bring home at least 20 orders, you just have to fix them yourself, but they are still great. My favorite on is on George Deiter.Someone tried opening a taco place like Chico's called Chuco's in Austin not even close to it,the only thing that was at all the same was the dish they served the tacos in.I think Chico's sued them so they closed.Chico's please consider coming to Austin close to 6th street you would make a killing here, not like you don't now but it sure would be great.Cant wait to go back home Chico's

I miss Chico's. I'm stationed in San Diego but I was born and raised in Chuco. My folks live in Dallas now, so when I drive to Dallas I make it a point to stop in Chuco to eat some Chico's. I remember coming home from partying in Juarez and going to Chico's. Double order of tacos, jumbo cheese burger, fries with cheese and a large coke. When I finish my tacos, I drink the soup from the bowl. I don't care who's watching me.I even bought a Chico's Tacos T-shirt. My wife laughs at me but I don't care because I'm brown and proud and proud to be from El Paso. When I go to sporting events, people chant for their team. I chant for Chico's Tacos. Chicoos Tacoos

I to am from El Paso, Texas. Now living in Austin,Tx. I try to go home at least twice a year, and of course my first stop is Chicos Tacos. This simple, but yet complex dish is one dish you will literally have withdrawals from once you leave El Paso. So when you get back to your current residing city, you find yourself trying to duplicate the recipe-never to be successful. It's easier to have a family member ship some overnight. Yummy.

As a native to El Paso, born and raised, I miss Chicos and crave those little bowls of flautas with the red sauce and melting cheese. MMMM.. so good. I've tried making my own here in Orange County, CA and it's just not the same. Those old 60's style speakers on the wall that somehow still work and the hordes of people waiting for a table. I miss it... viva Chicos Tacos baby!

I too grew up with Chico's Tacos and do love the tacos, however I only eat there once or twice a year now, when I get that craving, which is usually around football season. The reason for that is because I would have to agree with others that the place is dirty, service is bad, and have had cold tacos the last few visits. Their business practices are bad too. Such as signs that say NO credit cards, NO refills, NO everything. NO is such a discouraging word, but we El Pasoan's keep going back. I will only go when I get that huge craving and take it to go so I can eat it hot(reheated) and in my clean home or office. As far as their kitchen being as dirty as their eating area, I don't even want to think about it. I trust our health inspectors are doing their job. Oh, I do congratulate Chico's on their new location on Montwood. It is much cleaner, unfortunately service is the same. Please don't open another one in the Westside or Upper Valley, I don't want it to be easier for me to satisfy my craving and settle for bad service.

Ever since I joined the NAVY 19+ years ago my taste buds start swelling and watering from the impending burn of the delicious green sauce on my double order waiting for me at the Chico's as I arrive home on leave. And trust me I have been to S. Antonio (river walk/mercado), L.A (Olvera/E.Los)-Pretty Much all over the world....! And honestly nothing can top my ghetto Dyer street soaking,"QUESUDOS" tacos. this place is awesome, opened late at night or nice and early(early is around 11-12 for us late wakers, i think it opens earlier though), even though prices have being going up slighty, its still pretty cheap. I just love the way the tomatoe sauce melts the cheese then you can just simply cover it with the perfect green chili sauce(which is a must in the hamburger or hotdog too), now the fries, i prefer to just mix em up with the tomatoe sauce the cheese and the chili. Heres the perfect meal, double with extra cheese, order of fries, jumbo cheese burger or hotdog(either one is good)and a large Dr Pepper!mmmmm. its a good thing its only in el paso, we can keep it all to ourselfs!

it's funny how some say aboput how dirty it is and how the food is scooped up from the floor and roaches and all that, when they get inspected by the health department once even twice a month. always get unexpected visits. and if you look closely it's not dirty, it's the old walls, old flooring, old tables, if all the roach stuff and food off the floor was true, chicos would not be open right now. and would have been closed years ago. the new one on montana is excelent for newcomers who worry about it being clean. the tables are scratched up but it looks clean. i always order a double extra cheese, fries, round dog or jumbo cheese burger and large Dr. Pepper. mmm mmm thats a meal right there.

Chico's used to be a great place to eat. I moved to El Paso about 20 years ago, the first time I went to Chico's I thought it was great !!. It has really lost a lot over the years. we used to go 2 or 3 times a week. Now we may visit 2 or 3 times a year. The prices have gone up significantly. It is true no one makes tacos like Chico's but I think the rolled tacos at the "Frisco Burger Inn are much better.

When I first visited El Paso with my husband from Tucson, Arizona I was told by everyone that I had to try Chico's. Well I did and at first I was like so its a taco in soup. It wasn't until I got back to Tucson that my mind started playing tricks on me and I started craving those juicy little rolled tacos with sauce and an order of fries to soak up the extra juice. Now at least once a month we say we are coming home to visit family but we have one other thing in mind, CHICO's... Can't leave without eating there at least once!

Chico's is awesome!!!! It is an El Paso thing though,I took my husband there once during our visit to El Paso and he didn't see what the big thing was about Chico's. He is from Lubbock, that explains everything. I am now here in Arlington, Tx and whenever I talk to people from El Paso the first thing we say is "If we could have some chico's right now," mmmmmmm Anyhow, that is a piece of El Paso that will always stay with us no matter where we are in this world...

Most people don't know what's in the tacos, but I used to work there, and if you go to the dumpster you'll find the skins of the cats and dogs that were used to fill those tacos. But, who's going to be complaining, not me, I ate them for lunch during my time there. Now I know why they eat cats and dogs in the orient, they are delicious! Just kidding, of course, this Saturday my wife and I ordered our usual, a single, a double, a hot dog cut in half and two sodas. As for the cleanliness, it is kinda dirty at the old places, but in the Eastside it's not too bad, but they could do better. Hear that Health Department, just don't shut down the place, don't fine them cause then the price for a single will double, just give them a little scare!

Chico's flat out sucks! The ground beef floutas, coverd in tomato sauce and welfare cheese are horrible. the sporks they give u to eat those things are so flimsy that they are useless. I think the Cabaret on Montana ave is cleaner then Chico's. What an overrated rat hole. I don't care if u can get full for under $1, you can also eat out of a dumpster for free, but I wouldn't recomend doing either.

Wow, some harsh words from some bitter El Pasoans regarding Chico's....and then to suggest some other cookie cutter Mexican restaurant in the midst of all this love for Chico's is inexcusable...THAT person can STAY over there by UTEP!!! Chico's Tacos Rules!!!! I was born and raised in El Paso, and now am in Dallas missing those little rolled tacos in the tomato soup...Its almost worth that grueling 11 hour trip just to have it again...I had heard from someone that a relative of the family that owns Chico's, had married and moved to Dallas with her husband, and she was going to open a Chico's here, somewhere around the Lewisville area...Sure hope that was not just BS....

MMM, MMM I love me some of those delicious tacos. One thing I do miss is the fact that the tomato sauce isn't as thick as it used to be, but it still makes a great dipping sauce for my fries once I am done with my tacos. My standard order when I go home for Thanksgiving every year is: 2 regular orders, extra cheese, one regular hamburger, one order of fries. I repeat this order every day I am there except for Thanksgiving day, if only I could get away with a Chico's Turkey platter that would be great. Until the Thanksgiving holidays my mouth will continue to water for those savory tacos.

I miss it soo much!!! At least I'm 6 hour away from Chuco, and Chico's. Living in AZ for 9 years now, and when I do go back I order the usual, double order, fries, beef stew burrito, jumbo cheese burger, and Medium Dr. Pepper, in one sitting, just in case I never come back again. Not to mention it keeps me satisfied for a year?

As all the other posts note, I too love them tacos, and that plastic cheese! Have you ever taken some to go, that cheese lasts forever in the fridge and never goes bad!

Many people mention the place is dirty, and I totally agree, however, I don't blame the restaurant; if the place is dirty, who creates the mess? The workers don't eat in the customer area. It's the bad manners of the patrons who make it dirty... I bet they don't make a mess like that at their home... but then again....?

If your from EPT ---> family comes 1st, then Chico's. My advice to the owners, emphasize customer service & clean it up a bit.

I moved to El Paso from NC a month ago and have ate Chicos tacos about 6 times already! My husband is in the military and we were a little sketchy when one of his soldier friends mentioned we eat at "Chicos Tacos" for lunch one of the first days we got here. I loved it! I think the tacos are great and cheap too. My husband likes the burgers. A huge drink is only a dollar and some change and the french fries were hot and fresh. I've worked at a restaurant and I know its hard to keep the place immaculate and Chicos is always little dirty, but it could always be worse. Over all, I like Chicos Tacos and actually want to go there for dinner tonight. adios!

I brought my husband there while visiting my parents and he just didn't understand. Yes, it's true, it is not the most fancy or clean place but the food rocks! I spent many a Friday night there after high school football games. It is a must after a night of clubbing. I HIGHLY recommend it...great food, great prices! I miss you Chico's!!

I agree that this is one of the "cheapest" places in El Paso to eat (3 tacos for a buck?! Makes you wonder what's in them). What really worries me is that almost everyone mentions the lack of cleanliness, but hardly anyone seems to really mind it. WAKE UP PEOPLE! This is what you can see. Now imagine what the kitchen looks like? Just imagine that mystery taco filling being scooped up from the raunchy floor or the roach-infested counter and scooped into those artificial corn tortillas. And then they go straight into your mouth. That's pretty nasty. Not to mention the fact that the main location is between the zoo and a cemetery (no wonder their meat is so inexpensive). Spend another buck or two and try El Rincon de Cortez by UTEP for lunch. They don't have the government cheese nor the watered-down tomato sauce, but their food is excellent, the please is clean, and the staff is freindly, and their huge lunch specials are only 6 bucks.

Good evening!

My name is Isaac Gomez and I'm 12 years old. I visit your resturaunt frequently. I love the food there and the cleansliness isnt bad, but you could work on it! Usually in resturaunts, after a family is finished eating, the tables are already clean. The waiters go to it as quickly as possbile and clean it as quickly as possible. That is my main concern with your store because everything else I adore! I love your food and this resturaunt is definatley family oriented. thank you for a pretty good time!

I was born in El Paso and possibly because of their always cheap prices my mother took my brother and I to eat there very, very often. I grew up on their special recipe rolled tacos, cheese and sauce in a paper boat. The cleanliness has NEVER been great. Keep in mind that there are approx. 20 employees behind the counter just to keep up with the volume of customers. Every location has been PACKED from as long as I can remember....for a reason. IN 1980 there were poor people begging for change outside as there are today....the ownwer of Chico's never ran them off. I always thought that was cool. Chico's is an institution in El Paso. Upon your visit I reccomend a dbl order of tacos and the infamous chili dog on a hamburger bun. I sometimes wish that Chico's were in my city but I think it makes me want to visit El Paso again that much more. It will always be my first stop upon entering the 915.

I like the qoute "You haven't really been to El Paso, if you haven't been to Chicos'" that fits in and although cleanliness of the restaurant isnt great. it is hard to keep up with the MASS amount of people that go in and out of those places. Then again it gives it that "hole in the wall feel" and that is comfortable. all in all CHICOS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

filth, just plain filth, Chicos use to be the best. Now with the cheap ingredients, low down people in service line, no respect for the customers; three day old tacos that you chew like gum. The smell of urine; dirty tables, filthy rest rooms, owner greed, bad referances by ex employees. Poorly managed. Those are not the tacos that I use eat back in the day.

Great food theres a reason there is always a long line to order and its hard to find a table. Yes it could be cleaner but the food is great and has kept its traditional recipe and hasnt tried or had to change to keep up with the competition the way other fast food places do.
