Wow, I was shocked by the ratings listed on this place. I am a true lover of Italian food and I usually don't go longer than 2 days without having some type of pasta dish. I gave this two stars because the waiter was very nice and the ambiance is cozy and quaint. The food is awful. We had the following: Appetizers: - Mozzarella with tomato - The cheese was not fresh at all and somewhat stiff with very little flavor. The tomatoes tasted like they had been left in the very cold part of the fridge, so they were stiff and very cold. - Sauteed Mushrooms - The mushrooms had no flavor. They barely tasted like mushrooms. I can fry up mushrooms in a pan with oil, butter and a little seasoning and make something that tastes FAR better. Dinner: - Spaghetti and Meat Sauce - Now meat sauce is usually the easiest thing to make in my book. The sauce was not really sauce, it was more like stewed tomatoes from a can that barely covered the pasta. The meat was so dry and tasteless it was shocking. - Shrimp with garlic and butter - The shrimp was the best part of the night. It was reasonable fresh and well prepared if a little over-cooked. The pasta was just pasta with garlic and butter. Lowlights: - The iced tea tasted as if it had been sitting for a few days and I had to request a Ginger-Ale and send back the iced tea. It isn't hard to mess up Ice tea, and they found a way. - The loaf of bread with dinner was hard on one side soft on the other with a very bland taste. On the positive side the waiter was great. I hate to give bad reviews and really wanted this to work out since it is a few blocks from my house. Plus the reviews are generally positive. But this is what I would describe as cafeteria food at best. I can't understand why the reviews are so great. Don't eat here. Try some place else. Or stay home and make your own pasta with a jar of Prego, I assure you it will taste far better.

I've dined at Nidos many times, but last evening, decided to leave before we were seated. My husband had called the day before (2/13) to make a reservation and was told that they didn't take reservations and if we came at 7:30, there should be no problem in getting a table. We arrived at 7:30 - 3 parties were in front of us. Within 20 minutes, the line was out the door. A couple walked in past us, saying they had a reservation. When we got the owner's attention, my husband tried to tell him that he tried to make a reservation, but he blew him off. At this point, it's already 8:30 and they are seating parties with reservations for 8PM. Since it was my husband's birthday, we stayed because he really wanted to dine at Nidos. At 9PM, we were still waiting for a table (next in line after all the parties with reservations, who were being seated.) Again we spoke with the owner and he just motioned to the bench to wait. We decided that 90+ minutes was sufficient time to wait and would leave if not the next table seated. The owner returned and motioned for another couple with a reservation. Before we could blow us off again, I expressed my dissatisfaction with his lack of regard for the situation. At this point, he told me if I wanted a table he would get me a table right away or I could leave. With that attitude, we left. I don't care how good the food is at Nidos, it's obvious they overbooked their reservations for 2/14 and didn't ever let those in line know how long the wait would be. This lack of concern for customers will not bring me back again to this restaurant.

When we came in with kids they stuck us in the back and practically ignored us. The service was horrible. However, the food was decent. I would not visit this place twice. Instead go across the street to Venuti's that place is amazing and for the same prices.

Food not acceptable; fried chicken overcooked and dry, roast beef tough, waitress unpleasant. Iced tea was good but had to stir with a knife....no spoons offered.

The Chinese food at the Eastern is the BEST in Frederick MD. You get tons of food, it taste great and the service is friendly and nice. You have to try for yourself

This is basically a takeout place, but it has really good Chinese food, the best we have found in the area so far. It isn't really set up for a "dining experience," but the food is top-notch.
