Trying to plan a baby shower for my daughter in New Jersey while living in Connecticut is not an easy endeavor. Max however made it easy. The shower was held on a Saturday afternoon in July in this small charming restaurant. Guests each had a choice of four delicious entrees served with both a salad and pasta courses. The bread was served warm and crusty--salads were generous and delicious. The pasta with vodka sauce was light and delicious. The four entree choices: veal piccata, chicken marsala, tilipia oreganato, and shrimp parmesan were each exceptional. Since it is BYOB we were able to bring our own champagne for toast plus varous white and red wines. Service was excellent. Max oversaw making sure all guests enjoyed their food -a very nice man and talented chef!! I brought a delicious Italian Cream cake for dessert which they served. In all honesty I just had to sit back and enjoy. Max saw to everything. Everyone raved over their lunches and it was a wonderful time. Whenever we visit our daughter Max's will be my destination for sure to try all his other Italian specialties!
Reasonable, generous portions, delicious food and a charming small restaurant atmosphere. Not to mention an owner/chef who cares! Don't miss this place!

Always accommodating, this restaurant serves up seriously delectable dishes. Bring your own wine makes this place the perfect spot for us. Lots of regulars frequent this spot. Kids love it too. The pasta, lamb dishes, starters...it's all good! We've had many friends from NYC come out for dinner....parties from 4 to 10 have been accommodated. Max, the owner and chef makes his usual evening stroll through the restaurant to make certain his guests are well taken care of. I'm convinced that his dining room at home was too small to have us all over for dinner, so Max was forced to open a slightly larger but intimate spot away from home. Anything not right?....Sincerest efforts are made to make certain your concerns are addressed. NICE!

My wife and I ate there for our 1st and last time. We were one of four occupied tables. At one of the other tables were close friends who the staff knew and saw that we knew each other. We were also recommended by another repeat customer and we told them so. The appetizers were good and the entree's ok, although the portions were small. No the problem. At first it was nice to see Max in the dining room chatting with the guests, but like that Soprano episode, he needs to be in the kitchen.

We ordered a side of broccoli rabe with our meal even though the waiter was insisting that we have plain broccoli. We both said we did not want the potatoes that come with the meal can we substitute them for a vegtable. Another suggestion for broccoli. We wanted something sauted with garlic. More broccoli rabe maybe we asked ? No how about steamed broccoli he asked ? No we don't want that. Finally he said he had some zucinni he could saute. Ok, great. Meals came I got potatoes and no vegtables, wife got potatoes and a small portion of zucinni. Where's my vegtable I asked ? Oh, chef made mistake. Comes back, no more zuccini, we're out. How about broccoli. For the 5th time we don't want broccoli. 10 minutes after we were done eating out comes another small portion of zuccini. So they had it, just didn't want to ccok it. To busy talking. Asked for them to comp the side of broccoli rabe, since I got no vegatbles or potoes, he said no chef says you must pay, it was mistake. Asked for chef, now he is hiding in a room marked PRIVATE. He come out, say no discount for you, pay up. Tried to explain to waiter that although his service wasn't terrible but meal was ruined, he basically said too bad. STAY AWAY FROM THESE TWO !!!

In short, now I know why all the other restaraunts in the area are busy, and these idiots have only four customers.
