re: dealsaver.com $40 worth of Hibachi, Steak and Sushi for $20 at Kyoto Steakhouse

I spent $20 Aug 26 for what I thought was a great deal. Unfortunately, unexpected circumstances occurred soon after the purchase and I had to go to New York. I called to see if I could give it to someone else to use, but was told that only the person who's name it was issued to could use it.

I returned to Washington Monday (March 12), and thinking I'd only been gone 5 months was excited to be able to finally use my coupon! I redid the math and realized that I was off a couple of weeks, so I called to see if I could make arrangements to utilize my purchase.

Paul, the manager, had the hostess on the phone relay back to me that the deal was 6 months, and they would not honor it since it had expired. However, there were other coupons out that I could use. I explained that this wasn't a coupon that I had clipped, I paid $20 for it, and I asked if I could please speak with Paul.

Unfortunately, Paul was very busy preparing orders for other customers and unable to speak with me, personally.

Moral of the story - If you want great sushi and all the great food you can eat - Go to WONDERFUL BUFFET $7.50 LUNCH!!! I sure wish I had my $20 back, I could pay for 2 hungry homeless people to eat there with me!

We went to Kyoto's for a birthday. When the server found out, she asked if my daughter would like dessert - we said yes, anticipating that it would be complementary (there were 6 total with our group, the entire bill was nearly $150). Imagine our surprise to be charged $9 for the dessert! I almost deducted it from the tip, but decided it was only the server's fault, not the cooks. BE CAREFUL!

The service here is borderline terrible. They rarely refill drinks and never seem to have enough servers on to combat their business. The food is always fabulous and I know they share the tips with the cooks 50/50 but i have a hard time tipping what I want to for the cooks because the service is rarely personalized or friendly. The restaurant is always cold and the bathrooms are dirty.

The food at Kyoto's is without a doubt phenomenal, but the service leaves something to be desired. The majority of the staff is okay, but I have seen some members be incredibly rude to patrons, including myself, on occasion. I refer to behavior such as discussing other customers in an unprofessional manner, or swooping down after you get up to leave to see if you have left a tip. Despite the good food, I will not return until I hear of a significant change in their service.
