a diner from Dallas, TX with summers in Eagle Nest, NM
Nostalgia reigns at Kaw-lijas with juke-box, posters, photos and records of the 1950s and 1960s as the restaurant's "theme". The menues come attached to real phonographs from that era. Likewise, the food is reminesent of the 60's with good and huge burgers and fries, great mexican food and chicken fried steaks and a small but adequate salad bar.

Many of the locals and certainly most of the summer-residents find Kaw-lijias to be a favorite place to gather for good food. It is occasionaly crowded at meal-times so a short wait may be in the offering but you'll enjoy the food following the wait. And, don't forget to end your meal with a hand-dipped ice cream cone available in a varity of flavors.
