Restaurant Description

Johns is a family restaurant with an old fashioned atmosphere. The walls are covered with antiques and fabulous stain glass pieces. The food is cooked to order, so its always good. And the service is excellent. I recommend in your lifetime you give it a shot.

I am very fortunate and also grateful that I live in Charles Town, WV which is just over the VA line from this restaurant! We love this place, we go probably, averaged out, about once a month. The pricing does seem a little high to most, when they see the menu but wait until you get your food to make that decision! It is so worth it! I'm always taking food home with me plus it's just so delicious you will not complain about the pricing at all! From the warm, fresh bread they start you out with, all the way to the last bite....dessert if you can handle it, after eating the rest of your meal! I've never made it that far! The décor is wonderful, you can't see everything in one visit, every time I go in I see something I missed before! The very back dining room is set up like an old time barber shop, I'm a hairstylist so this room just mesmerizes me! The old time carriage seating is just so different and very beautiful! Love this place and you must come see it and try the food while you're there, you will not be sorry, no matter how far you've traveled!

I live locally and this is the place we go for all of our special occasions. A little expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Great steaks, crabcakes, soups and homemade desserts (Friday = homemade coconut cake = yum). I over heard the executive chef saying he had been there for 12 years... I think that speaks for itself. I would recommend this place to anyone!

My husband and I take our kids to John's as we love the food and atmosphere. The kids like sitting in the carriages while eating. The portions are too much to eat in one sitting. The food is outstanding and we recommend John's to all our friends. Superb dining experience!

Dont judge this restaurant by the cover. From the outside it may seem like an average, "side of the road" stop for food, but it is way more than that. The food was excellent. I had filet mignon and crab legs and they were both so fresh and perfectly prepared. Better than any name-brand restaurant I've been to. Its a special treat to go here for a meal.

My husband and I used to make special trips from Baltimore on Sundays just to visit the Diner until it closed on Sundays. Now we stop by whenever we are in the area. We have been going there for about 25 years.

We were heading back to NJ from a Luray, VA vacation and discovered Johns Family Restaurant on Route 304. The food was great and the staff were first rate. The atmosphere is awesome. We had the Country Ham & Crab Cake, corn nuggets and crab balls, and a beef/pasta dish. The baked sweet potato side was fantastic. All the kids ate my crab soup because it was so good.
