Waitress Kim was prompt, friendly, and attentive; she was OK.
Wasn’t sure what I wanted but ordered the “Special” (Philly Steak Sandwich) after Kim offered it. She said “it’s really good, you’ll love it.” She didn't mention sides or anything else about the special, (like the fact that they put horseradish in it: I don't particularly like HR). Wife ordered fish; Kim was great about saying they could work something out to make it a fish "sandwich", (that's what my wife was wanting).
My wife ordered a beer with a shot of grenadine. Oops, out of grenadine. Ordered alternative suggested by Kim - a strawberry German brew - Good choice. I order Ice Tea with 1/3 glass of Ice. I guess Iced Tea was hot when poured into glass because there was absolutely NO ice in it when I got it and it was warm. (all the sugar dissolved!)
Routine time expired before getting our food; roughly 15-20 minutes. My "Special" was a small French roll with a skimpy amount of roast beef, onions and almost no mushrooms plus a huge pile of very greasy-looking long, thin fries (like the kind you'd get at a fair or at "Whaling Days" in Silverdale. I can't eat fried food so I asked for cold slaw instead before beginning to eat. Kim said she was sorry and yes, she could get me slaw. She brought the slaw out in about ten minutes AND ENDED UP CHARGING ME $3.00 FOR THE SMALL CUP! I didn’t touch the fries. The bread part of my sandwich thoroughly dominated my meal, that's how skimpy the meat portion was, (and like I said, the roll WAS SMALL compared to what you're served at Whiskey Creek in Keyport and FADO's in Seattle. The special WASN’T special - I DIDN’T love it. My wife's fish "sandwich" consisted (again) more of bread than fish. The fish portions for her were also skimpy she thought. She did like the taste and both she and I thought the slaw was OK.

This was the second chance we gave the H&H. After our first lunch visit, we were disappointed with the total we paid for the quality we received; we paid $ 97.00 (including tip) for five persons, and also like today, my guests mentioned they thought the food was not that great.
BTW...the business description says “The restaurant is a neighborhood favorite.” ??? It just opened! How can the owner(s) say it’s already a neighborhood favorite? It’s not ours.
All in ALL, I think next time we're in Poulsbo and get hungry, I'll drive us over to McDonalds for a .99 cent fish sandwich. Thank you but, we won’t be returning to The Hare and Hounds.
