I recently ran across this fine diner while I was in town for a baseball game. At the suggestion of the cook and a couple regulars I had the "jumbo burger." WOW!! I have never had a burger like this before. It had slaw, onions and hot bbq sauce and was absolutely wonderful! Another thing that stood out was how clean it was. All of the stainless steel was polished and under all the grills and fryers were nearly spotless. If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop in the Stoplight!

The Stop Light diner makes the best burgers on the planet & is a Twin Cities (Festus and Crystal City, Missouri) institution. It's a classic diner atmosphere with counter seating surrounding the grill so you can watch the cooks at work. The burgers feature toasted buns, thin patties, melted cheese, and your choice of toppings. There are plenty of classic sides to accompany your burger (like fries & onion rings), great chili (on the side, or on your burger), and traditional milk shakes. I make it a point to go by Stop Light every time I'm back home in Festus: there's nothing like their triple burger with double cheese, thin & crispy fries (or thick & tasty onion rings), and an old-fashioned chocolate shake.

You have to order the Jumbo..It just melts in your mouth. A hamburger with slaw, BBQ sauce and onions. I usually add Chili cheese fries on the side to really top it off. This is just a great place. We called it the Fish Bowl when we were kids. It sits on the corner of a busy intersection. The front of the building is all glass. You can see every thing that's going on. People enjoy having a cup of coffee or lunch and watching traffic go by as they eat. This is a must try..

I have been going to this great burger and fries dive since I was a kid and I have to say nothing has changed.... Still the same great burgers done steak n shake style on the flattop. The double jumbo is a favorite topped with cole slaw and BBQ sauce and the swivel stools placed around the seating counter still spin the way they used too. Go try it - you'll love it.
