I have visited this restaurant several times over the past year since moving to the area from MA a year ago. It's a bit rustic, but the menu seems to have something for everyone & there are daily specials. There is only one waitress on Sat. night, but she is friendly & attentive. I have tried something different every time and have yet to be disappointed.

We just returned from dinner at the Goose and Gander and we were very disappointed. We wanted so much to like it because it's local. However, we didn't enjoy it. We both ordered broiled seafood platters and they were not good.The piece of fish was tiny and flat, there only about 4 or 5 scallops and the one shrimp (which was supposed to stuffed but wasn't, was burnt. All three items were floating in butter and they had very little taste. My rice was cold and my wife got a very small portion of potatoes. At $16.95 each, our dinners were over-priced.
Sadly because of this one experience, we won't be going there again.
The one positive was a very nice waitress. If the chef changes and the portions get bigger, we may return, but until then, I hope this critique will help. Richard and Anita Naiss, 87 Hubbell ave. Oakville

I just returned from a wonderful trip to New England and found a great little place on Rt. 6 in Thomaston called The Goose and Gander Restaurant.They specialize in seafood and I had the baked scrod which was fantastic,as were the baked stuffed shrimp! We shared the california salad and had a piece of the homemade apple pie for dessert,Yummy!They don't offer beer or wine,but you can bring your own.The service was very good and our sweet waitress gave us lots of info on the area.We wish we could go back!Maybe they will open one in Mi someday!! Linda

the food is not good. and the place is not ver clean. I don't like the general tso's chicken and the pork fried rice.
