A diner from Cleveland, OH
Nov 14, 2010
We ~ my mom,81,hubby & 2 grand kids (4,10)~ arrived in Peninsula by Cuyahoga Valley Train, our first train ride! We intended to shop at local antique shops before heading back to Cleveland & had about an hour to enjoy Peninsula. After 10 minutes one child got hungry & couldn't wait for train's concession car so we went to Fisher's because it was new (we have a Winking Lizard near our home). We immediately ordered 3 takeout kid meals. Fisher's was busy but seemed adequately staffed but the servers did not look friendly, looked stressed (a clue we did not pick up on). WE WAITED 35 MINUTES FOR FOOD!! The server took 15 min to place order in kitchen(don't know why) & it took another 20 min to get it. The kids noticed people that came in long after us getting served. The child was desperately hungry because of a recent illness. We asked for tea while we waited, which we got in 5 minutes. By the time food arrived, it was too late to shop. They ate at a picnic table near the train station while we ran through one gift shop nearby. Servers did not apologize for the delay or explain or even offer a complimentary anything. They were rude & looked annoyed. How long does it take to grill minihamburgers & fries? Next time, we'll eat on the train or the Lizard. It's not like we made a scene or anything, we just sat & waited for the food. We could have walked out but then we would have had to re-order somewhere else. I wish there were food carts in Peninsula. Fisher's needs more competition to improve their game. The food was standard restaurant fare, nothing special. They gave us plenty of napkins and the fries were hot.
