I'm a 50 year NM resident. I'm what you might call a New Mexican food addict. Real New Mexico quisine, not influenced by the stuff from California and Texas, but authentic. The way grandma made it back in the thirties. A fusion of Indian and Mexico. There are only about 6 resturants in the whole state that do it as good as El Bruno's. If you want the real stuff, this is it. Don't expect a Rodeo Drive bistro apnosphere. It's family style, in an adobe building, staffed by people who can trace their heritage back 300 years in the Cuba area. Courtesy and respect is the key to an enjoyable NM experience. I would highly recomend the red chili, it's earthy and wonderful, especially on the enchiladas!
We love this restaurant. The food is the closest thing to mom's cooking I have ever tasted. We live 90 miles away and plan our trips around eating a meal here on the way.

The day I visited this restaurant turned out to be the last. The food was very expensive for the quantity and quality. For Ten dollars I ordered a beef taco (1) with a small side of refried beans and it looked like Uncle Bens mushy rice. Oh yey , the worst Soapa pilla I have ever had cost extra. I think this was the worst imitation Mexican food I have ever had. Please never make the mistake of eating here. We sat outside under a tent with heavy rain, wind and lightning. The server had to walk out of the restaurant into the heavy rain to serve the food. All I could think of was that what ever was floating in the sky was now part of my dinner. I usually tip from five to Ten Dollars, I left 50 cents. The food wasn’t even worth that. Charles

Driving from Teluride, CO to Albquerque we were starving and in the middle of the desert in NW New Mexico. Cuba was the only thing for miles and miles.
Low and behold, a Mexican place smack dab in the middle of nowhere called our name. Welcome to Bruno's!
Loved the food and can't say enough about it. Quite simply, if you're ever passing through or live within two hours of the place....go eat here. Wish I lived closer as it's without a doubt the best Mexican place I've been to overall.
