Holly Ridge Restaurant Guide

Food was average with a very high price. The waitress was great and very friendly. We had a party of 14 and we were seated in a reasonable amount of time. The promptness of our orders was acceptable. The quality of the food vs the price = very over priced. (ie., five broiled scallops with potato and vegetable was more $20.00.)

Had a great window view. Service was good. Terrible family at table next to us with screaming kids. We complained and they got worse. Turned out to be owner and family! Rude people. First time here and last. Can't remember the food over the screaming.

We were very disappointed! I had heard great things about this restaurant, but when we went the only good thing about it was the beach view. My husband and son ordered steak and half of it was pure fat, other family ordered scrimp and had to be returned. When we told the manager about the steaks, she replied: "oh, that's how much fat that's normally in our steaks", and didn't offer to even give us a discount!!! We don't recommend this place to anyone!

Horrible experience. I can't imagine anyone being satisfied with the management attitude. The fact the food we ordered was slow and of poor quality, was met with disinterest on their part. If you have more than 2 persons in your party, be prepared to wait at least 90 minutes for your meal. The waitstaff was polite but management was very rude. Would never return.

I will never eat here again! The food took about and hour to come out, then my wife's steak was extremely overdone, then they had the audacity to tell us that they were going to make us pay for half. Then my moms shrimp was cold. They wanted us to pay for half as well. After paying the rest of our bill, we asked to see the manager. The waitress said he would be right up, but 30 minutes later he had not seen us and we walked out. I was extremely disappointed with the entire evening. DO NOT EAT HERE!

In mid summer 2008 Daddy Mac gained a new chef. The food was very good before, but now has popped upwards in a delightful manner. We always have had an excellent meal. One special is shrimp and grits which are totally different from any other shrimp and grits that you have had. Any time they are offered they are a "must have". The grits are a solid mound with herbs, then battered then deep fried for a few moments--shrimp in a cream sauce surround the mountain of grits. The wine list is modest but provides a good variety by the glass or bottle. Staff is friendly and professional, reflecting a higher degree of sophistication than what is generally found on the island. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone--an economical, enjoyable dining experience.

The wait was not bad, but the prices were high for the amount of food. The oysters were terrible! They tasted like mud.

If we are going out to dinner for fine dining Daddy Mac's is our choice. The food is always consistently delicious!! They are open year round, which is a real plus for us locals.

We have a place at Surf City, and love to eat here whenever we can..The staff is so friendly and the food is excellent. I love to have an appletini on the oceanfront deck while I wait for a table. What could be better after a long day on the beach?

We live in Virginia but have a beach house in Surf City. We eat at Daddy Mac's each time we are in Surf City. We love it!! The food is excellent and the service is great. We were thrilled to see the restaurant rebuild after the fire. Such a friendly place.

I definitely enjoyed the food when I went on vacation there with my family!!! We went twice, because we didn't have enough. My favorite was the Honey Glazed Salmon with mashed potatoes and the Crab meat dip!!! A must try. It's nothing I've ever tried at home! I would love to see an online menu from them!

Loved the whole experience....the food was great, the atmosphere was relaxin and the service was great. This is definately a please we;d go back to.
