Restaurant Description

Some claim Crook's Palace is the oldest saloon in Colorado having been built in the early 1900's. Both outlaw Jesse James and Billy the Kid have been said to frequent the historic ornate wooden bar before it made its journey from St. Louis to permanently rest in Crook's Palace.

Originally T.J Oyler's "Skylight Billiard Parlor," built in 1886, that building was torn down and replaced by the current structure by local politician and entrepreneur Thorwald Crook in 1900. Crook kept the building open during Prohibition selling soft drinks and cigars, but supplemented his income as Black Hawk's Postmaster. Jennie Zancanella operated Jennie's Inn through the 1950's.
