On my way out to the Tri-cities in WA, I stopped here with my mother for breakfast. This place, for the most part, was all I expected. A very homley place where drinks come in mason jars and the waiting staff wear "country" dresses. For the most part, I was impressed by the food, it came very quickly and was done up almost to perfection. The biscuits were absolutely exquisite, fresh and fluffy and just really good.
I was a little turned off by the staff though. Most "themed" restraunts like this I have visited, usually have an upbeat and chipper staff. When greeted, we had a lady who in the quickest monotone, hurry-up-and-move-along voice "welcomes" us with, "Welcome cousins, how are you today?"
Now, at first I thought the greeting was rather ingenious, but with first impressions meaning alot, it could have been a lot better. But what really killed it for me was our waitress who seemed overly ready to take her break and was trying to rush us into getting everything we needed. They appeared not to have anyone to cover her area while she was away, so if we needed anything we were pretty S.O.L.
So.. overall, restraunt was great, I will definately be stopping by when I pass through the dalles again, but, hopefully the waitstaff will be a little better off.
