Restaurant Description

If you enjoy being around luxurious vintage ambience, then Old Town San Diego's Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant, the oldest surviving building in San Diego, is the place where you want to go. Visit us and we will take you back in time with our Victorian style bedrooms and baths, dining and bar, and lounges. Indulge in one of our favorite drinks served here in the 1870s - a punch mix called the "Uncle Toby" mixed with lemon, brandy, and rum - at the bar, or join in the camaraderie around the lounge's fireplace.

Our goal at the Cosmo is to artfully combine the past with the present, melding the modern palate with historical foods of 1870s San Diego. Our menu promises a journey through time creating modern dishes from historic ingredients. Al fresco dining is de rigueur at the Cosmo, but indoor service is available in the Sala. For intimate gatherings or back-room-deal making, we recommend the Bandini Room - where Juan Bandini's original four-foot-thick adobe walls will ensure privacy from within and without and where Chef herself has private access from the kitchen.

The Cosmopolitan is committed to using locally grown and produced foods as much as possible in all of our dishes. We make every effort to use ingredients from as nearby as possible - much as the restaurant would have in the 1870s.
