Yes, this restaurant is in a lower level, and it is "dark", but it has a nice Chinese atmosphere. And the food is the best in South Bend for Chinese food. The beef is top quality and the portions are ample. If you are with someone, order two or more dinners to share. Ask for their free Chinese tea with the meal. Delicious! I MUST say, if you want the best Chinese food south of town, this is the place! It is worth the drive, too. And they have carry-out.

I would not recommend this restaurant. At first, I enjoyed the dark, cozy, basement experience they have going until I got pregnant and found it a huge pain to get up and down those stairs. Even before my pregnancy, the dark lower level would make me nauseated or give me a headache. After sampling other chinese restaurants in different parts of the city, I found China Garden's food to taste like rubbish in comparison. The portions are big enough but prices are. I often get chicken chop suey. The China Garden chop suey usually has LOADS of onions, a few string beans and chicken that has a garbage-y after taste. Egg rolls are good if you don't mind a bit of grease. I always find myself waiting for refills in my tiny water glass. Overall, I would say this restaurant is average at best and I can't see myself ever going back.

I've only gotten carryout from China Garden, but every time I've gone there, the service has been slow, and my order has been wrong. The food is really mediocre at best. My wife complains that the chicken dishes are all gristle, but I talked her in ...

This is just a small place with a few tables if you choose to eat there. I am sure majority of their business is takeout. The food is fantastic!! They service is fast and the quality incredible.

This is more of a take out restuarant - They should have a menu online. Their quality is very good.

My overall experience at this restaurant is usually favorable. The menu has loads of variety at reasonable prices. Especially for lunch. The Eggrolls are phenomenal. We always get plenty of rice. I usually leave satisfied and would definitely recomme ...

I eat here all the time. The food is good and the service is fast and friendly. I prefer hot and spicey but even the non-spicey foods are good. If you want to eat in, the seating is limited. It's just a store front with the kitchen taking up 2/3rds o ...

My family and I have enjoyed the food from this restaurant for many years! It is extremely tasty. We recommend the Mongolian Beef, Snow White Chicken, pot stickers...and if you have a cold, try the Hot Sour Soup! The BEST in Chinese food!!

China Garden is the best in Chinese cuisene. The owner is friendly and often comes out and speaks to the patrons. He takes excellent care of his customers and the quality of his food speaks for itself. Mr. Lee has worked hard to build his establishment over the past 25 years and is a wonderful part of the South Bend community.

I am not sure why this restaurant is listed as "Fast Food" unless you count their excellent take out. One of the best chinese restaurants in South Bend. I reccomend the lo mein and the fried rice.
