A diner from Boone County
Feb 5, 2011
Surprised at how nice the restaurant was inside a pretty ratty strip center. Tables weren't set (on a Friday night at 7 p.m.) One sweet and pleasant but confused waitress who didn't speak English much and didn't know much about waitressing was trying her best. Food was delivered piecemeal. We ordered crab fried rice that was to have peas and mushrooms for $14. No soup, no eggroll, just a beautiful garnish next to a pile of rice with about 6 peas and some microscopic shreds of mushroom. Nicely flavored, but totally not worth $14. An order of pepper steak was very tasty, good portion size, served with rice that arrived 5 min. later than the entree, and for about the same price as the nearly naked rice pile. A good manager who understands food service would really help this place that looks, for good reason, like it's struggling. The woman in charge, who said she had previous complaints about the crab fried rice, gave us $5 off the dinners, but didn't seem to get what we were saying. What a disappointment, when the "City's Best" awards at the entrance had led us to expect more.
