My husband and I and our two friends went to eat breakfast at Carla's Kitchen on Sunday April 27, 2008 around 9:30 a.m. We have been going there for many years when we come over to the coast from Fresno. Our friends have never eaten there so we wanted them to taste some great food. The food was excellent as usual. The waitress was great as well except when I went to pay the bill. The total bill was around 60.00 and my husband left her a 5 dollar tip. I had already went up to pay the bill and he stayed behind. When our waitress came to take my money for the bill she asked me if she had done something wrong and I was dumbfounded and told her no that she did an excellent job and she said "Well that man only left me 5 dollars tip, not even the percentage of the bill, but I put it in my pocket anyway". I could not believe what I was hearing from her. I apologized and went to my husband and got a 10.00 bill and gave it to her. She said she just couldn't believe he would do that and maybe she was just being crabby about it. I was so shocked at her statement I could barely speak. On my way home we were all talking about it and them more we talked about it the more upset I became at her for even making a statement like that. Nowhere does it say you even have to leave a tip and we have never not left a tip anywhere we have eaten. My husband had thought he left an adequate amount but didn't pay attention when he was putting the money on the table and must have mistakenly left a smaller amount than he should have. The nerve of her to even imply that we were cheap with tip is beyond me. I will come back to eat there again but I will never let that waitress (I didn't get her name but she was an older lady with gray hair and slender build) wait on me again. I hope she slept good that night knowing she got a whole couple of dollars more from us that morning from an innocent mistake on my husband's part. Shame on you for being so demanding instead of appreciative. I am sure there have been many people come in there that did not leave a tip at all.
