Heading home from leech lake a friend convinced me to this restaurant.
As it wasn't on the direct route back to minneapolis I was a little resistent at first, but My goodness the food is supremely done, I had the svinahoxa and now I'm hooked.
I've driven back to this restaurant roughly 5-7 time's from minneapolis over the last year. It is definatly worth the trip.

A memorable dining experience in the middle of nowhere!!! We have a large vacation group that has dined here for several years - we wouldn't miss it! I highly recommend the duck - hands down better than any german restaurant I've ever been to!! Go now - you won't regret it.....

We enjoyed the food. We had a German exchange student with us and she stated how good this German food was. She had missed this food while in the USA
If in the North Country of Minnesota, for true German menu hopitality, "THE BrauHaus" will rival any in the country. The menu and people are genuine, sincere, and consistant about their seasonal openings. It's certainly tradition for people to travel miles around Akeley MN to travel and travel and dine frequently. It's obvious the food is prepared as in germany and is hand delivered to the table for your tasteful travel to germany at any given evening. This isn't to mention the hand selected german beers, wines, and cordials as desired. Wunderbar!!
