It's a classic small-town Texas diner, and my star ratings should be interpreted that way: It's not a four-star Michelin score, just a perfect example of what it is. We had two breakfasts there in a crowd of local folks plus a passing group of bike tour riders in Lycra and flashy colors. Everybody got good service, and the locals went out of their way to be polite and show some interest in what the cyclists were doing (they'd ridden from Las Vegas, Nev., more than 1000 miles, in two weeks). Biscuits were terrific, sausage gravy first rate, Spanish omelet a textbook example with bland American cheese, no salsa, but nicely sauteed onions and peppers. I'd go back in a second.
