I had my graduation party at the Black Forest in June of 2008. It was absolutely awful... They ruined what was supposed to be a joyous day.
When I arrived on the day of my party, I was told by a very snooty hostess that I could not use the room I booked (the glass-enclosed patio), and instead had to be moved downstairs to the Meyer room. The room was disappointing, very stark and used mostly for business conferences I assume. It is in an inconvenient location, my guests had to go upstairs and then outside if they wanted to smoke. They also had to go upstairs if they wanted something to drink, as the bar is upstairs. There were many employees coming and going into the storage area right off of the main room and they were fairly loud most of the time, taking large pots and other equipment with them (I was told they were setting up for a wedding reception upstairs). The rest of the day was alright, and the service and food were mediocre at best. Overall the entire experience was extremely disappointing. It was nothing like we had planned, and certainly wasn't worth what we paid ($17/head plus rental for the room). We spoke with the manager and he did give us a discount, granted it was a very small, relative to what we paid. I definitely will not be returning for anything, whether it be for dinner or another party/event. All of my guests are aware of the issues we had with the Black Forest, and they will not be returning either.
